Welcome back to school and to a new year! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing break. The students are already in “full swing” for the second half of the school year. This next half of the school year is crical for the children and their overall academic progress. Over the course of the spring months, several state and naonal assessments will be administered. With this in mind, it is imperave that children arrive to school on me and that they aend school daily. Please plan doctor and denst appoint- ments before and aſter school. We sincerely appreciate the efforts you have made as our daily tardy numbers have decreased. With the cooler weather brings increased acvity outside which is always a welcome change from the hot summers. It’s also a good reminder to all of us to be careful and vigilant as we are driving through the neighborhoods as children are more apt to be out and about on bikes, scooters and skateboards. Keep a watchful eye and remember to slow down in and around the school and surrounding neighborhoods so we can work together to keep all our students safe. Speaking of safety, I wanted to highlight a variety of the measures we have in place at Hull to ensure that every student is kept safe and secure. All exterior doors and gates are locked during school hours. Parents can only access the campus from the front door. All volunteers are required to sign in at the front office, and wear a visitor scker. We conduct monthly fire drills at varying mes each month to ensure that procedures for exing the building are followed. The Chandler Fire Department is present during one drill each semester to provide feedback on our procedures. The Fire Mar- shall also conducts school and classroom inspecons. We conduct five lockdown drills per year. These drills assess the procedures for securing the building, in the event there was an outside threat to the school. We have an Emergency Response Plan that is reviewed with the staff in the event we have to evacuate the building and stage students and staff at an alternave seng. Hull Elementary is assigned a district safety officer that is visible each day and available to assist with student needs, traffic issues, and possible safety challenges. Finally, duty teachers are placed at all areas where student interacon is at its highest providing supervision and support when and if needed. Crossing guards also provide another layer of supervision throughout the exterior points of our campus. With assistance and vigilance from everyone (parents, students, staff) we are able to provide a safe and secure environment for each and every child. Thanks for your connued support! Welcome back to school and to a new year! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing break. The students are already in “full

swing” for the second half of the school year. This next half of the school year is critical for the children and their overall academic

progress. Over the course of the spring months, several state and national assessments will be administered. With this in mind, it

is imperative that children arrive to school on time and that they attend school daily. Please plan doctor and dentist appoint-

ments before and after school. We sincerely appreciate the efforts you have made as our daily tardy numbers have decreased.

With the cooler weather brings increased activity outside which is always a welcome change from the hot summers. It’s also a

good reminder to all of us to be careful and vigilant as we are driving through the neighborhoods as children are more apt to be

out and about on bikes, scooters and skateboards. Keep a watchful eye and remember to slow down in and around the school and

surrounding neighborhoods so we can work together to keep all our students safe.

Speaking of safety, I wanted to highlight a variety of the measures we have in place at Hull to ensure that every student is kept safe

and secure.

All exterior doors and gates are locked during school hours. Parents can only access the campus from the front door.

All volunteers are required to sign in at the front office, and wear a visitor sticker.

We conduct monthly fire drills at varying times each month to ensure that procedures for exiting the building are followed.

The Chandler Fire Department is present during one drill each semester to provide feedback on our procedures. The Fire Mar-

shall also conducts school and classroom inspections.

We conduct five lockdown drills per year. These drills assess the procedures for securing the building, in the event there was

an outside threat to the school.

We have an Emergency Response Plan that is reviewed with the staff in the event we have to evacuate the building and stage

students and staff at an alternative setting.

Hull Elementary is assigned a district safety officer that is visible each day and available to assist with student needs, traffic

issues, and possible safety challenges.

Finally, duty teachers are placed at all areas where student interaction is at its highest providing supervision and support when

and if needed. Crossing guards also provide another layer of supervision throughout the exterior points of our campus.

With assistance and vigilance from everyone (parents, students, staff) we are able to provide a safe and secure environment for

each and every child.

Thanks for your continued support!

Jane Dee Hull Elementary Journey 2020 Action Plan

In alignment with the Chandler Unified School District Journey 2020 plan, all schools have created an action plan to work towards school improve-ment in one academic area. A Datawise Team has been established at each site to oversee the process and lead the staff in making data-driven decisions. After analyzing our school AIMS data our Datawise Team made a decision, along with staff input, to focus on the content area of Math. At Hull, we are committed to providing our students with top quality in-struction, along with current strategies and resources to help them excel. We will be monitoring our student’s progress through monthly assess-ments and making adjustments to our instructional practices. Our Jour-ney 2020 Action Plan can be viewed on our school website at http://www.mychandlerschools.org/Page/55069

Lots of fun was had by all at the Gingerbread Run and picnic. The weather was beautiful, so the picnic went on as planned. Many parents, grandparents, and friends joined in the festivities. Thanks to all who helped and especially Doug Lin-coln, Jordan Indovino and the Stars and Stripes Café staff for planning a great event!

Hull was fortunate to have two Chandler Sports League basketball teams for the 2014 season. Our teams were coached by Mr. Heyd and Mr. Lincoln.
