Snow storm? What snow storm? Nonetheless, our younger students planned for snow. Kindergarteners read about winter, wrote stories about a snowy day, and pretended to hibernate. PreK’ers wrote their names on paper snowballs to create snowmen. They also learned about shapes by making shape snowmen! Fun learning! Middle School students enjoyed their first school dance of the year. The dance was sponsored by the St. Joseph School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.

Wondering why St. Joseph School is so special?

We are always excited to show off our school.

Why not come for a tour and learn about our

Fasting and Abstinence

All Fridays of Lent: Abstinence

Lenten Season Lent (LEHNT): (Middle English lenten; Anglo-Saxon lencten: spring) The forty-day liturgical season of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving in preparation for Easter. In the first three centuries, Lent lasted only two or three days. Later, it grew to three or four weeks. The number forty is first detected in the Canons of Nicaea (A.D. 325), probably to recall Our Lord's forty days in the desert before His public ministry. In the East and West and throughout the centuries, the length of the fast has varied. An important dimension of the Lenten observance was the celebration of Mass by the Holy Father at what are called station churches. The present Missal recalls this custom and “strongly encourages the chief shepherd of the diocese to gather his people in this way.” The Lenten Liturgy also highlights the present restoration of the Scrutiny Masses on the third, fourth, and fifth Sundays of the season for the catechumens (now called the “elect”), who will be initiated at the Easter Vigil.

PETER’S PENCE Today we recall the apostolic journey of Pope Francis to Asia and his call to us to cast the light of Christ upon the world. We can show our solidarity with the Holy Father and our suffering brothers and sisters abroad through our support of next week's Collection. These funds allow him to provide emergency assistance to victims of war, disaster, oppression, and disease. Please be generous to Peter's Pence Collection next weekend.

BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN We will be starting our Baby Bottle

Campaign soon. You can take the baby

bottle home and place it in a popular spot

like the kitchen counter or your dresser.

During the six weeks of Lent, place your

spare change in the bottle, as an offering

to help us minister to those women in

crisis pregnancies. Use the bottle as a

reminder to pray for the many women

and men who come to our Centers. After the six weeks, return

the bottle to the church. Thank you for your past generosity.
