Minneapolis Boat Show The club received the $7000.00 check from the Minneapolis Boat Show. Darrin, who is the club’s contact for the show said there were 33,600 total attendees this year. Friday and Saturday’s numbers were low and Thursday and Sunday were high. Darrin thought we did an excellent job and no improvements were suggested. Discussion ensued about how we might improve our booth. Suggestions were to have tables in the middle of the display as an information booth rather than tucked off into the corner as we have done in the past. Also, we will ask Darrin if they could move the radio booth/curtain so people could see the display from the main auditorium. Also try to get signs posted pointing to our display so more people could find us. It was suggested that the Minnehaha might want to increase their visibility with some kind of signage. Winter Workshops Dave Bortner has all 3 workshops setup and would like a postcard sent out before each workshop and a MailChimp notice. The list of workshops is as follows: Feb – Trailer Maintenance at Highway 55 Trailer Sales Mar – Touch Up Repairs at Restoration Workshop Apr – DNR Update and Having Your Boat Judged

Spring Mixer George N put together an extensive list of options and handed out information about each. 3 were on Lake Minnetonka and 2 were on the Mississippi River. The location will be determined at the March meeting. If the March meeting is not held, the decision will be made via e-mail vote. Meet and Eats Meet each first Thursday of the month at designated restaurants around Lake Minnetonka. George N suggested that a boating topic be selected for each week rather than just random discussion. It was decided to try that and see if it works. Schedule will be on the BSLOL website.

10,000 Lakes Concours d’Elegance Tom requested sponsorship of $1,500. We sponsored last year for $1,000. Due to weather conditions the show was not well attended and was hurt financially. Tom K moved to sponsor the show for $1,500 and Dave B 2nd. Motion failed and much discussion followed about what we actually get for our sponsorship. Tom will go back to the show producers and find out exactly what the club gets, how many tickets etc. and report back to the club via e-mail. When he submits that info to the board via e-mail a vote will be called for (via e-mail) as to whether we should sponsor this event or not.

Balsam Lake Our club has once again been invited to Paradise restaurant on Balsam Lake in WI to show our boats. Starts at 10:00 AM either on July 13th or July 25th.

Rendezvous Currently held at Maynards in Excelsior. Moving to Lord Fletchers this year was discussed. Lord Fletchers has more capacity for boats, better parking vs none at Maynards, and protected water at the docks. Disadvantage is Apple Days is in Excelsior which brings many to the show. Ian S. made a motion to move this year’s Rendezvous to Lord Fletchers, Michael Holland 2nd. Motion passed unanimously. Brian Jensen arrived. Brian is the artist who has created the graphic/images for our Rendezvous Poster and framed image as a prize for the boat show. He showed us several renderings he had created and left a few samples to be brought to the upcoming workshop on trailer brakes. International Boat Show Dave B. is discussing $15,000 sponsorships with a number of local businesses in the Twin Cities for this event at Gull Lake. T-shirts, caps, and sweatshirts will be produced for this event. Dave passed samples around for us to view. There is a $50.00 registration fee to attend the International show that is collected by ACBS. BSLOL collects another $50.00. It was proposed that if a BSLOL member volunteers 4-6 hours to work events at the show, BSLOL will waive their $50.00 fee. Dan S. moved to waive the fee and Michael H. 2nd. Motion passed unanimously.

BoatUS Boat US is an organization for boaters similar to AAA for auto owners. Membership is free to organizations. They have articles we can use in our BoatHouse magazine. It was decided that the club will join this organization. Action Items

- George N. will proceed with our membership to Boat US.
