The new building work is fast approaching completion and it is certainly looking very attractive compared to what was in place beforehand. There will certainly be some adjustment to routines involving the front office staff and executive in the administration block but everyone is looking forward to moving into the new office space. The Nowra High cattle showing team and poultry team are continuing with their impressive efforts. The cattle team had 18 students participate at the Kangaroo Valley show and 14 students working hard in the rain at the Braidwood Show. Results from the Braidwood show included Senior Champion bull, Junior Champion Female and in the judging Paris Rodriguez was awarded first in junior judging, Cara Haupt gained a second and Bella Lefevre gained a third. Next stop is the Royal Easter Show. The poultry team have had success at the Kangaroo Valley show; results included two 1 st in hard feather and one 2 nd , one 1 st and one 2 nd in the soft feather and 1 st and 2 nd in the junior category. At the Milton show the poultry team again excelled with two 1 st in hard feather and two 2 nd places and in the soft feather two 1 st and one 2 nd . The next show for the team will be at Robertson. Congratulations to all the students involved for their dedication and commitment and good luck in the upcoming shows. Thank you to Year 7 Advisor Ms Novak on the success of the Year 7 Camp held at the Cataract Scout camp on February 22 nd to 24 th . Many long hours go into the organisation to ensure all students are given the opportunity to attend and are well prepared for the numerous activities undertaken while on camp. Ms Novak was very impressed with the attitude of the Year 7 cohort and commented on how well they responded to instructions and their commitment, going well out of their comfort zone to undertake new experiences and develop new skills. The camp also provides the ideal opportunity for students to form new friendships and get to know the many students that make up this diverse group. The French exchange group have landed safely back in Aix-en- Provence after a very enjoyable time spent at Nowra High. The students were certainly impressed with the hospitality offered by their host families and thoroughly immersed themselves in the life of the school. The visit provides an ideal opportunity for our students to polish their French as well as experience the French outlook on life. Mrs Leslie was very appreciative of the good will offered by the host families and is already contemplating the next cultural visit. Thank you to everyone for making the visit so successful. The Year 7 2018 Information evening will commence tomorrow at 5.30pm in the Multi-Purpose Hall. There will be a short presentation before a guided tour is conducted around the school. Expected finish time will be approximately 7.00pm. Thank you to NHS staff for giving up their time to make this evening a real showcase of the many opportunities Nowra High has to offer prospective students. A big thank you to the SRC students who will also be giving up their time to guide the many parent groups around the school.
