Balaram Jayantie appearance day of Lord Balaram fell on

August 13th. e day was packed with festivities.

ere were classes by Tribhangananda dasa and

Ramanuja dasa, lively kirtans throughout the

day, harinam, a feast and of course, not to forget

Lord Balarams favourite, Varuni.

e singing and dancing went on late into the

night as devotees celebrated the appearance of

Lord Balaram with great energy and love.

Janmastamie days leading up to Janmastami were lled

with anticipation as devotees eagerly awaited

the occasion of the appearance of e Supreme

Personality of Godhead Krishna.

e evening before the big event an adivas

ceremony was held to invoke auspiciousness. e

next morning, with the temple room decorated

brilliantly, devotees felt like they were in a forest

of Vrindavan.

eir Lordships were oered a magnicentlybeautiful new outt. e temple was a hive of

activity including kirtans, stalls with henna and

gopi dots, ower arrangements which could

be oered to the deities and a stall to promote

Ahimsa milk.

e festivities continued throughout the day and

as it got the closure to midnight the crowds grew

and grew. As thousands waited for midnight

darshan the queue run out the building and

up to Oxford Street. With the kirtan roaring

volunteers did a fantastic job ushering so that

everyone had the opportunity to take darshan

of Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara.

As always, devotees ecstatically sang and danced

until the next morning, which happened to be

another special day.

Appearance Dayof His Divine Grace

A.C. BhaktivedantaSwami PrabhupadaAlthough Janmastami was a full day of jubilation

and bliss, the fun didnt stop there.

e very next day another auspicious occasion

took place. A grand festival to celebrate the

appearance of our most beloved founder acaryaHis Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

Prabhupada. We were very blessed to have the

association of Malati devi dasi and Ranchor

dasa, both disciples of Srila Prabhupada.

Devotees lled the temple room to express their

gratitude and appreciation to Srila Prabhupada

for so mercifully giving us the gift of Krishna

consciousness.

Croome CourtFestival

On Saturday 27th to Sunday 28th August the

National Trust opened their doors to the Hare

Krishna devotees for a two day open event for

the public. ISKCON UK used to own Croome

Court and all the adjoining land in 1979 to 1984

and the National Trust are looking to bring back

all organisations who have previously owned the

property in celebration of this lovely estate.

e event was a huge success as devotees fromall the various regions came together such as

ISKCON-London, Crawley yatra, Bhaktivedanta

Manor, ISKCON Manchester, ISKCON

Birmingham, the Festivals Team and Food for All

in Kings Cross.

Maha Counsellor/Counselle Picnic

On the 29th of August we held a Maha

Counsellor/Counsellee picnic at Regents Park.

is consisted of games, kirtans, dancing,

laughter and of course prasadam !

ese events are held twice a year - one outdoor

event and one in door event - in a mood of

bringing together all members of the Spiritual

Counsellor System to interact together, make

friends, create a family spirit and above all be

happy.

Each group had to present an item on the day.

We had an appreciation session, a transcendental

quiz, a drama on the glories of Facebook, and a

pinata where a bucket of maha sweets was tied

on a robe between two trees and we all had to

take it in turns to knock it down with a stick ...

while blind folded.

e prasadam was made by various counsellees

and the day ended with an ecstatic kirtan.

We were permitted to put up enlarged BTG

articles in one of the main rooms in the building

for preaching purposes as well as having stalls

around the grounds selling prasadam, clothing,

jewellery, music and so forth. A large tent was

erected for kirtans and a drama which was

wonderfully enacted by devotees from various

Temples all coming together.

e approximate number of guests who came

were over 1,000 on both days and the organisers

have already booked us in for next year as they

deemed it such a success.

Suki Talwar who is the outreach ocerfor Croome said: e festival is all about

celebrating the time that they were here as well

as the movement itself - its an important part of

Croomes history.

Youth PreachingReport August 2011

Appreciating SrilaPrabhupada

In honour of Srila Prabhupadas Appearance

Day, this month the KC Lounge dedicated one

session to appreciating the glories of the Founder

Acarya of ISKCON. It was a well attended event,

focusing on various aspects of the person himself.

is included a discussion on what made Srila

Prabhupada great, his contribution to society and

history, a summary of his life, and a short g limpse

into his preaching prowess through a short

lecture.

e event was facilitated through video footage

of Srila Prabhupada. e group feedback testiedthat there was now a much greater appreciation

of the person Srila Prabhupada and his great

contribution, particularly on account of the video

footage of his life and classes. It was particularly

helpful for some new guests at the programme.

Lila Kirtan

e increasing popularity of the lila kirtan events

encouraged us to host another session this

month, which was one of the most successful lila

kirtan sessions yet, concluding with the guests

ecstatically dancing and singing late into the

evening.

VIP Guest

is month the Lounge was privileged to have

the association of His Grace Kripamoya Prabhu,

who held a captivating session on the Layers of

Consciousness.

is session attracted around 25 attendees, who

enjoyed an evening of lively discussion and debate.

Who is Krishna?

In honour of Janmastami, this month also

dedicated one session to Lord Krishna.

is event included a philosophical discourse

on Godhead as a PERSON, and moreover what

qualities such a Supreme Person would embody.

e discussion further led to a glimpse of

the character and pastimes of Krishna, along

with some consideration of His attributes and

potencies that establish Him as the Supreme

Personality of Godhead.

e session also included clips from the popular

DVD rendition of the childhood pastimes of

Krishna, Little Krishna. is event proved very

useful for some of the newer attendees of the

programme.
