Out of the darkvom Umgang mit der “Schatten-IT”

“Schatten IT” ?
Kundendaten

IT Trends 2013
§ IT-Budgets§ IT Budgets eher flach. Fachabteilungen investieren immer mehr in Technologie - 2012
16%, 2013 19% der Gesamtausgaben der IT
§ Souocing§ Outsourcing (Single- zu Multisourcing), private Cloud, wenig Services von Dritten
§ Industrialisierung der IT§ Erhöhung der Automatisierung und Standardisierung der IT Prozesse und Dienstleistungen
§ Top-Technologien
§ TOP: Virtualisierung, Master Data Management, Security
§ FLOP: BYOD, Coorp App Store, Context Aware Computing

«IT doesn’t matter»
§ «… such as railways and electrical power - IT hasbecome a commodity. Affordable and accessible toeveryone, it no longer offers a strategic value toanyone»
§ «… we must focus on its risk more than ist potentialstrategic advantage …»
§ Conclusion:
§ Spend less
§ Follow, don’t lead
§ Focus on risks, not opportunities

Gedanken zu«Licht und Schatten»
Was ist ‘Schatten IT’
§ « IT devices, software and services outside the ownershipor control of IT organizations » (Gartner)
§ « Shadow IT is hardware or software within an enterprisethat is not supported by the organization’s central ITdepartment » (Margaret Rouse, 2012)
© ABB GroupAugust 28, 2013 | Slide 21
Umfang von ‘Schatten IT’
§15 – 30% (PwC study)
§19% in 2013 (Capgemini Studie)
§35% in 3 years (Gartner prediction, Computerworld, Julia King, 2012)
© ABB GroupAugust 28, 2013 | Slide 22
§ « In the past, shadow IT was often the result of animpatient employee's desire for immediate access tohardware, software or a specific web service without goingthrough the necessary steps to obtain the technologythrough corporate channels » (Margaret Rouse, 2012)
© ABB GroupAugust 28, 2013 | Slide 23
Was sind die Riskien von ‘Schatten IT’
§ « Shadow IT can introduce security risks whenunsupported hardware and software are not subject to thesame security measures …. can negatively affect the userexperience … by impacting bandwidth … can also becomea compliance concern when, for example, end users useDropBox or other free cloud storage services to storecorporate data » (Margaret Rouse, 2012)
§ « … risks of data loss, corruption or misuse, inefficient anddisconnected processes, and information » (Gartner)
Schatten-IT steht häufig imKonflikt mit diesen Themenfeldern » (Rentrop, van Laak, Mevius, 2011)
§ « The data is suddenly not in the organization anymore …»(Chris Curan, PwC)
© ABB GroupAugust 28, 2013 | Slide 24
Was sind die Chancen von ‘Schatten IT’
§ … ausgeprägter Geschäftsbezug
§ … abgeleitet aus den Bedürfnissen der Anwender
§ … Aenderungen gelangen schnell ins Unternehmen
§ … hohe Flexibilität und Anpassbarkeit
§ … informelle Abstimmungswege
§ … kreative Prozesses
§ … soziale Kollaboration bei der Entwicklung
§ … hohe Identifikation mit den Lösungen

Ansatz & Beispiele
Shadow IT ist Realität!
§ « Consumerization of IT is an inevitable reality »« We need to empower employees, but we also need toteach them » (Mark Dajani, CIO, Kraft Foods)
§ « Classic shadow IT is out there, and if it's something thatis serving a purely functional need and is something that isnot customer-facing, it's not the worst thing in the world. »(John Murray, CIO at Genworth Wealth Management)
§ « Shadow IT provides juices that help keep organizations –and their IT departments – on the cutting edge » …« although this is akin to anarchy for many in IT, shadow ITin reality pulls the company in more productive directions, which today include the use of the cloud … » (Dave Linthicum,Blue Mountain Labs)
© ABB GroupAugust 28, 2013 | Slide 27
IT – Business Alignment ist kritisch!
§ « Shadow IT, cloud-based applications and personaldevices are now our competition. The only way we canensure that we perform better than our competitors is bygetting closer to the customer, understanding theirchallenges and delivering solutions that provide what theyneed. If IT is seen as a trusted advisor and is agile enoughto provide what is needed, when it’s needed, there is noreason for the customer to look elsewhere. » (Source: “Managingshadow IT” by Vawns Guest and Patrick Bolger on ComputerWeekly.com, Sept. 2012)
§ « Instead of fighting to retain control, IT leadership shouldfocus on managing risk and learn to spot where employeesare adding value with their self-provisioned tools andservices » (Brian Lillie, CIO at Equinix)

Neue Modelle für die IT-Organisation ?
§ Mögliche Weiterentwicklungen der IT-Organisation
§ Interne Cloud
§ Service Broker
