2002 – 2005 STAGE:

The idea competition of master plan was launched in the form: Publicly announce in media in HCMC

Send invitations to potential applicants: 12 from Vietnam and 25 from overseas

Registrations from 42 applicants was received, 14 of which are from Vietnamese sectors and 28 of which are from overseas.

In total, including variety of associations, there were 68 registors, coming from Vietnam, the USA, France, Australia, Singapore, Japan, Germany, the UK, Russia, Chile, Argentina and China.

No Proposal was awarded the First Prize. The second prize went to the design of Sasaki Associates, Inc. from the U.S.

The National Evaluation Board agreed recommendations to the Prime Minister allow the HCMC PC to deploy up 1/2000 Master Plan.

HCMC PC approved quy 1/2000 Master Plan on Decision No 6566/QĐ-UBND dated 25/12/2005

2008 – 2012 STAGE:

In order to clarify and supplement the details of 2005 master plan, since 2008 HCMC People's Committee allowed for partial adjustment zoning planning of 1/2000.

In June 2012, the partial adjustment zoning Master Plan was approved by the HCMC People's Committee (Decision No 3165/QĐ-UBND).
