Brian Dames is the Chief Executive of African Rainbow Energy & Power Pty Ltd (“AREP”), and the former Chief Executive of Eskom Holdings SOC Lim-ited. AREP is an energy company with a focus on clean energy solutions for Africa, based on renewables, hydro, gas and complimentary transmission investments.

RACHEL ALEXANDER, Chief Executive Officer & Founder, Omina Technologies

Rachel is CEO and founder of Omina Technologies, an AI company dedicated to ethical AI solutions, and recently won the award for ‘Artificial Intelligence Person of the Year’ in Belgium. Rachel is responsible for the technological vision and strategy of Omina Technologies. . Before founding Omina Technologies Rachel worked as Global IT Director at Studio100 and in the management of CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation).

BARBARA ANN BERNARD, Founder, Wincrest Capital

Barbara Ann Bernard, the founder of Wincrest Capital, has a passion for investing that goes back to her days growing up in The Bahamas. It was there that a 15-year-old Barbara Ann persuaded legendary value investor Sir John Templeton, a fellow Bahamian resident, to take her on board for the first of what would become a series of summer jobs, giving her a first glimpse of the business and instilling in her a fundamentally value-oriented perspective on public markets. Barbara Ann has kept her focus on value since striking out two years ago to launch Wincrest, where she runs a concentrated long-short portfolio built around a foundation of in-depth research.

MO DEWJI, Chief Executive Officer & Founder, METL Group

Mohammed Dewji is a businessman, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and former politician. He serves as President of MeTL Group, a Tanzania conglomerate founded by his father in the 1970s where he is the majority owner of the business. Mohammed is single-handedly responsible for increasing MeTL’s revenues from $30 million to over $1.5 billion between 1999 and 2015.

ROB HERSOV, Chairman, Invest Africa

Rob Hersov is a South African entrepreneur, senior executive and private investor based in Cape Town. He serves as Chairman of Invest Africa, Chairman of African Capital Investments, deputy Chairman of VistaJet, Chairman of Adoreum Partners, and Chairman of AON South Africa. In 2013, Rob saw an opportunity to create a platform for the growing number of individuals becoming involved in pan-African investments and founded Invest Africa.

Thelma Ekiyor is an impact investor, who supports women’s small medium sized businesses. Thelma has over 19 years experience working in the development sector, as a donor, philanthropic advisor, non-profit practitioner, social entrepreneur. She has experience working in 22 African countries. She is the Founder and served as the pioneering CEO of Afrigrants.

AUBREY HRUBRY, Co-Founder, Africa Expert Network

Aubrey Hrubry is the Co-Founder of Insider and the Africa Expert Network (AXN). In her role at Insider, she works with global entrepreneurs to generate PR and – using proprietary mobile built technology – connect them with investors, media and influencers across the U.S. and Europe. Aubrey is also the Partner and Founder of Baylis Emerging Markets, a specialist private equity investor in African Markets. Baylis’ diverse partner team brings together an extensive experience in frontier markets private equity and a unique in-depth expertise on African markets.

MCEBISI JONAS, Trade Envoy to the President of South Africa

Mcebisi Jonas is one of four Presidential Investment Envoys, appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa to attract USD100-billion to South Africa over the next five years. He is also currently a non-executive director in different company boards and MTN board chaiman designate. Jonas previously served as Deputy Minister of Finance and as a Member of Parliament from 2014 to 2017.

RAJA JANDHYALA, Founder & President, YAATRA Ventures

Raja Jandhyala is a founder and President of YAATRA Ventures, an investment platform that develops solutions for complex economic challenges with part-ners and deploys capital in value-added infrastructure investment opportuni-ties in key value chains for productivity and growth. Ms. Jandhyala combines her extensive expertise in the public sector where she developed national security and economic development strategies with her deep knowledge of risk-return profiles and delivery capabilities of the private sector. She established and leads the Albertine Graben Refinery Consortium (AGRC) as the CEO that concluded an estimated $US 3.5 billion Joint Venture agreement with the Government of Uganda.

MPHOKOLO MAKARA, Transactor, RMB Infrastructure Finance

Mphokolo is an Infrastructure Finance Transactor at Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) – having concluded several transactions in the aviation, industrial, power, health and transportation industries across the bank’s public and private sector client base. She received the Association of Black Security and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) Young Talent Award in 2006 and the Project Finance Deal of the Year in 2016 and 2018.

RAZIA KHAN, Chief Economist, Africa and the Middle East, Standard Chartered Bank

Razia is Chief Economist for Africa and a well-known commentator on African markets. She advises clients on Africa strategy and provides regular updates to African central banks, finance ministries and multilateral institutions. She joined the Bank in 1997. She currently serves on the WEF’s Global Future Council on Migration and on the Advisory Board of the Royal Africa Society, and was named one of the 100 most influential Africans in 2015’ by New African Magazine.

Jurie has been involved with AIIM since its inception in 2000. He has served as a Director on the AIIM Board since 2009 and was appointed CEO in 2014. Jurie is also a member of the AIIM Investment Committees, namely AIIF2, AIIF3 and the IDEAS Fund. In his capacity as CEO of AIIM, which houses the infrastructure capability of Old Mutual Alternative Investments (“OMAI”), Jurie is an Exco member of OMAI.

THOMAS SCHAEFER, Chairman & Managing Director, Volkswagen Group, South Africa

Thomas Schaefer began his career in 1991 at Daimler AG Commercial Vehicles. He was based in South Africa and Malaysia before taking charge of overseas Production Operations for Daimler. He joined Volkswagen in 2012 to head up Group Manufacturing Overseas. Since 2015 he has been Chairman and Managing Director of Volkswagen group South Africa.

AOII has over 20 years of experience in the Oil & Gas and Power Sectors in Africa, where he has consistently led other equally distinguished colleagues in pioneering several initiatives including but not limited to Independent Power Producing companies, well-Structured Oil Companies (Oil Trading and Exploration), thriving Utility Companies, amongst others.

TRUDI MAKHAYA, Economic Advisor to the President, Government of South Africa

Trudi Makhaya was appointed as Economic Advisor to the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, in April 2018. Prior to that, Trudi was CEO of Makhaya Advisory, a research, advisory and stakeholder engagement firm. The firm acted as a consultant and advisor on competition regulation, economic policy, business strategy and stakeholder relations.

Mohan is a member of the DBSA’s Group Executive Committee, with accountability for deal origination and client relationship management in South Africa and the rest of the African continent. The Origination/Coverage division works closely with the DBSA’s clients to develop integrated solutions bringing together the DBSA’s product offering composed of technical assistance, project development and long term financing.

GEOFFREY WHITE, Chief Executive Officer, Agility Africa

Geoffrey White, CEO of Agility Africa, is an expert on infrastructure development, retail supply chains, agri-business, and investment for African markets. Agility, a leading global provider of logistics and related infrastructure solutions for the oil and gas and FMCG markets, has over $5 billion in revenue, 24,000 employees, and offices in more than 100 countries. Mr White is a member of the Agility Strategic Advisory Board.

NATZNET TESFAY, Executive Director, Africa, IHS Markit

Ms. Natznet Tesfay is executive director of research and analysis on country risk at IHS Markit, focused on Africa. Her areas of specialization include analysis of political developments affecting the offshore energy sector in West Africa, particularly Nigeria; commercial developments, especially in mining, energy, and infrastructure in East Africa; and piracy risks in the Gulf of Aden and Gulf of Guinea.

SAMAILA ZUBAIRU, President & Chief Executive Officer, Africa Finance Corporation

Mr. Samaila D. Zubairu has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Africa Finance Corporation since 2018. He is a distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an accomplished infrastructure development finance specialist with over 29 years of professional experience.
