Lies in white dresses by Sofia Grant (AF GRAN)
Francie Meeker and Vi Carothers were sold a bill of goods: find a
man, marry him in a white wedding gown, and live happily ever
after. These best friends never expected to be on a train to Reno,
those “lies in white dresses” shattered, their marriages over.
On board the train they meet June Samples, who is fleeing an
abusive husband with her daughter, and take the vulnerable
young mother under their wing. The three decide to wait out the
required six weeks together, and then they can toss their wedding
bands into the Truckee River and start new lives as divorcees.
But just as they settle at the ranch, one shocking decision will
change their lives forever. With their fears and deceptions brought
into focus, the women are forced to come to a reckoning with the
past, and with the choices that a person in love can be driven to
make.
The summer house in Santorini by Samantha Parks
(AF PARK)
Anna’s running away. From a failed relationship, a dead-end
career and complicated family life.
On the island of Santorini, with its picturesque villas, blue-tiled
roofs, and the turquoise waters of the Aegean lapping at the
white sand beaches, Anna inherits a less-than-picturesque
summer house from her estranged father. As she rebuild the
house, she rebuilds her life, uncovering family secrets along
the way that change everything. She starts to fall for her little
slice of paradise, as well as for gorgeous, charming Nikos.
Will Anna lose her heart in more ways than one?
“When I say to a parent, ‘read to a child’, I don’t want it to sound like medicine. I want it
to sound like chocolate.” Mem Fox

The Jasmine wife by Jane Coverdale (AF COVE)
Sara Archer’s future as the dutiful wife of a British official in India seems
assured, until a chance meeting with the gorgeous and powerful Ravi
Sabran changes everything.
Under the heat of the Indian sun, the veneer of polite society wears off
quickly and soon Sara realizes nothing is as it appears to be, especially
her husband Charles.
But in the beautiful jasmine gardens of the Maharajah’s palace, Sara
follows a forbidden path. Away from her bullying husband, towards Ravi
and the long-buried secrets of her own birth.
Meant to be by Jessica James (LP JAME)
It started as a chance encounter on the beach, and ended 24
hours later when they parted to go their separate ways. Or so they
thought…
When Lauren Cantrell said goodbye to the guy she had just met on
the beach, she had no way of knowing their paths would ever
cross again. But fate had another unexpected meeting in store for
them - this time in a place where danger was part of the culture
and the stakes were life and death.
The last person in the world Rad expected to see at a special ops
briefing in Afghanistan is the girl he met at the beach two weeks
ago - the one he can’t stop thinking about.
From the sundrenched beaches of Ocean City, Maryland, to the
snowcapped mountains of Afghanistan, this thrilling tale of
espionage and intrigue takes readers on a spellbinding journey in
the secret lives of the quiet heroes, and answers the question:
What do you do when the person you most want to protect is the
one risking everything to make sure you survive?

John Flanagan
John Flanagan grew up in Sydney, Australia hoping to be a writer. It
wasn’t until he wrote a highly uncomplimentary poem about a senior
executive at the agency where he worked, however, that his talent was
revealed. It turned out one of the company directors agreed with John’s
assessment of the executive, and happily agreed to train John in
copywriting.
After writing advertising copy for the next two decades, John teamed
with an old friend to develop a television sitcom, Hey Dad!, which went
on to air for eight years.
John Flanagan’s bestselling Ranger’s Apprentice adventure series
originally comprised twenty short stories, which John wrote to
encourage his twelve-year-old son, Michael, to enjoy reading. Michael
was a small boy, and all his friends were bigger and stronger than he
was. John wanted to show him that reading was fun, and heroes weren’t necessarily big and muscular.
Now in his mid-twenties, Michael is six feet tall, broad-shouldered and powerful – but he still loves The
Ranger’s Apprentice.
The series has come a long way since then. Now sold to eighteen countries, the series has appeared on
the New York Times Best Sellers List and is regularly shortlisted in children’s book awards in Australia
and overseas.
John lives with his wife, Leonie, in the Sydney beachside suburb of Manly. He is currently writing further
titles in the Ranger’s Apprentice series. In addition to their son, they have two grown daughters and four
grandsons.

Finding love is never easy for anyone. Busy
schedules, grieving a breakdown of a long-term
relationship, unconventional dating methods
and social media can make the dating scene
very intimidating and complicated. Whether you
are single, divorced, a senior or just want to
seek companionship then try these books that
are available from the library.
"My great aunt was a librarian at a university
where my great uncle was studying to be a
teacher. He's very shy and thought she was pretty
so he would go in and check out books as an
excuse to talk to her. After about two months he
realised he had a huge stack of books that were
overdue that she had been too polite to remind
him about, and he sheepishly had to carry them all
back. She told him she would get rid of his fines if
he took her to dinner. Three kids and 65 years of
marriage later they're still the best couple I know."
(from cosmopolitan.com.uk)
"How my mum and stepdad met and then got
together: He was teaching a basic computing
course back in the 90s, and my mum was (and still
is) very technologically inept. She was having
some problems with a word processing document,
and needed help with something. So my stepdad
comes over to her desk, and figures out the
problem in a couple of seconds. Instead of fixing it
for her, he considered it a learning opportunity and
guided her through fixing it herself. 'Ok so right
click here...' And my mum wrote the word 'click.'
He says it was both hilarious and adorable, and
took all that he had not to burst out laughing. My
mum is always embarrassed whenever he tells the
story." (from cosmopolitan.com.uk)
