I was born in Laredo, Texas and have 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Most of us now live in San Antonio – I’ve lived in SA for 23 years. One of our family traditions is celebrating Thanksgiving together. We are now more than 50 at the table and look forward to this reunion each year!

My husband and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary in December 2007 by traveling to the Yucatan Peninsula. We visited the Mayan ruins in Tulum, Mexico. Tulum was known as the “Walled City” and while not the largest Mayan city, was considered to be the most important as it served as a major trade network. The ruins stand on a bluff overlooking the spectacular blue waters of the Caribbean.

I am undoubtedly a fan of Bruner’s work. I strongly believe that to improve our craft as educators, we need

to think about the instructional decisions that we make in our classrooms each day and reflect upon them as a

means to become better teachers and better learners.
