We are proud to bring you up-to-date coverage of news, sports and entertainment 24 hours a day, and have invested in our newsroom to be able to deliver the news in different ways. Those investments ensure that we can provide the information you need to be informed and to make decisions every day, and to deliver it in ways you want it, when you want it. Whether you are looking for the latest developments from the state Legislature and City Hall, the score of a UH game, ideas for what to do on the weekends, or places to shop for the latest specials, we know that a half-million of you rely on us each week. Beginning Aug. 3, we will be introducing charges for digital subscriptions for those who do not subscribe to the print edition. In doing so, we will join a growing number of small and large newspaper companies across the country that have taken this step, including the New York Times, the Dallas Morning News and the Omaha World-Herald. A recent University of Missouri survey found that at the papers in the United States that don’t charge for online news content, only 15 percent had no plans to charge in the near future. As with other papers that have begun charging for premium content, we view this move as an investment in the future so that we can continue our journalistic mission of offering a credible report of news, information and opinion. No other organization can match the Star-Advertiser’s breadth and depth of Hawaii news, and revenue derived from digital subscriptions will contribute to a continuing investment in journalists and technology. Again, all subscribers to the Star-Advertiser print edition will have access at no additional charge to all content at staradvertiser.com on your computer, smartphone and tablet. All Access will entitle you to: * Subscriber content online: At staradvertiser.com, you will be able to look at all stories, photos and videos, post comments on individual stories and read what others are saying. * e-Edition: You also will be able to access our new e-Edition. This is an exact replication of the printed newspaper (similar to a pdf), available on your computer’s web browser, ipad, iphone and select e-Readers. We value every one of our readers and appreciate the trust you have placed in us. We look forward to serving you.
