ADVICES, SUGGESTIONS AND INVITATIONS.
• AIM: To make students provide advices, suggestions, and
invitations.To make students use modal
verbs.
Pre-knowledge
PRESENTATION
• Lady: Hi Justin, how are you?
• Justin: I’m ok, I have been busy trying to perform for a new audition and
play a new song, and you?
• Lady: So have I, but I have gained a lot of weight recenly, I’m gaining
weight.
• Justin: I think you should stop eating fast food, eating fast food isn’t a
healthy choice. Would you like to eat vegetarian food?
• Lady: I know, however, my mom told me that I could mix fast food with
vegetarian food, I can’t stop eating fast food, it is my passion. Let me think.
• Justin: that’s a bad advice, you must stop eating fast food or you wil be ill.
• Lady: I will say. I definitely have to stop eating fast food. By the way, you
never gain weight. May I borrow your diet?
• Justin: No, you’d rather go to a nutricionist who can better advise you.
• Lady: let’s watch a movie together or let’s go to a concert.
• Justin: I would love to but I have to study.
• Lady: too bad, then, I will watch a movi e with Ray.
• Justin: ok, I’d love to wath a movie with you, where can we watch it? And
when?
• Lady: On Wednesday at 7 pm- in my house.
CONVERSATION STRATEGIES:
Maybe : It is used to indicate possibility.
Too bad, that’s too bad: it is used to indicate that discouragement or dislike.
Sorry, I can’t: it is used to indicate that you are unable to do something.
I’d love to, I’d like to, but: are used to indicate that you want but that you cannot
accept or do something.
What a great idea: it is used to indicate that you agree with what was said.
I’d love to, I’d like to, thanks: are used to indicate that you accept something.

CONVERSATION STRATEGIES:
Adverbs of certainly are used to express how certain or sure we feel about doing something or to express how certain a person must follow an advice.

Write situations in which you advise and invite people to go to a game, to watch a movie, to eat, to not eat some type of food and why not or why yes, and another situation in which you advise someone to travel with you or not to travel and why yes or
why not and write an announcement.
Create a conversation in which you advise a person who wants to get a plastic surgery, and express why or
why he/she should not get that surgery and at the end, invite the person to go to a concert, movie or any activity and event, use schedules, time, days etc , use
the calendar.
