We believe that all students have the right to be educated in an environment where there is mutual respect and co-operation. Bullying is contrary to this approach and we do everything possible to discourage it.Bullying is when someone deliberately goes out of their way to threaten, frighten, abuse or hurt someone else. It is also taunting or name calling as well as damaging a person’s property, clothing or school work. It is ganging up on someone and isolating them.School is committed to opposing bullying. Any form of the behaviour outlined below should never be ignored but challenged and the appropriate action taken.Every pupil has the right to feel safe, secure, happy and free from intimidation.Bullying can be defined as:1. Malicious gossip2. Verbal threats and abuse3. Intimidating behaviour causing fear, concern or isolation4. Aggressive physical contact5. Interference with personal belongings6. Sexual, racial, social or disability harassment7. Exclusion of the victim from group membership8. Written comments including those posted on social networking sites9. Graffiti in the school washroom, corridors and classrooms. It can be defined as bullying if physically or emotionally harmful actions are repetitive, wilful or persistent are intentionally harmful and carried out by an individual or a group; if there is an imbalance of power leaving the person who is bullied feeling defenceless.

PRoMoTING HoLISTIC DEVELoPMENT oF THE GIRL CHILD – FoR HERSELF AND THE SoCIETY.

“If every girl is valued and given the same opportunities as boys; if she is free from not only child marriage, but from all forms of violence and discrimination, amazing things can happen – not only for the girl whose life is changed forever but for the whole world which becomes safer, happier and more balanced.”

We envisage to build an awareness among our students and parents for :• Strengthen the role of the family in improving the status of the girl child.• changing attitudes considering girl child as an asset & not as liability; • to ensure proper education & all round development of girl child; & • to protect the girl child from discrimination & deprivations. • Eliminate negative cultural attitudes and practices against girls.

The spirit of Competition in Sports and Games, as well as in co-curricular activities, is fostered through a wide range of Inter House competitions. We recognize that children excel through friendly and healthy competition, hence pupils of the school from Primary classes upwards, are assigned to one of four Houses, namely Chrysanthemum, Orchid, Hibiscus and Sunflower. Activities and Games are non-competitive at the kindergarten level.

House Motto:

Chrysanthemum : “Winning through Harmony”

orchids : “We explore, We Experience and We Express”

“We are smart kids, We are ORCHIDS”

Sun Flower : “Together Aspire, Together Achieve”

Hibiscus : “Seizing the opportunity to be valorous and radiant”

“Uniflorous makes strength”

All students from class I onwards are competing House-wise in all co-curricular & extra-curricular activities.

Competitions are grouped as follows:

GROUP A (I, II) GROUP B (III, IV, V) GROUP C (VI, VII, VIII)

GROUP D (IX, X, XI, XII)

Each House is headed by a Captain and Vice-Captain. A staff member associated with several other teachers’ acts as the House In-charge. Points are awarded to the students throughout the year for co-curricular activities, games, sports and discipline. At the end of each month and year the House gaining the highest number of points is awarded a Trophy for being the best House of the year.

Morning Assembly:

Morning Assembly is conducted class wise based on themes. Parents will be invited to witness the same.

The Morning Assembly begins with ‘Vandemataram’ and is followed by a prayer, pledge, News & Thought for the day, Patriotic songs, scripture reading, motivational speeches, recitation of poetry, prize distributions, few creative demonstrations and ends with the ‘National Anthem’.

We have Special assemblies celebrating various festivals. GIISU conducts march past practice for Independence Day, Republic Day and Investiture Ceremony along-with mass physical training for enhancing physical fitness.

This provides the school with an excellent opportunity to develop the overall personality of the students and it helps them to overcome stage fear.

Instead, the circulars will be put on the school website www.giishyd.arca.co.in. Please log on to the official website to check the circular. Parents who are concerned about any aspect of the school Programme or policy are encouraged to request an interaction with the Principal. Matters that relate specifically to a child’s progress should be referred to the appropriate class teachers.
