TEST SEQUENCE I. 50-meter Dash II. Seated Ball Push III. T-Test IV. Long Jump V. Endurance Run VI. Flexed Arm Hang

SUPPLEMENTARY DATAA. Height (cm)B. Weight (kg)

The International Physical Fitness Test was developed for boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 18. These tests were selected because they represent important components of physical performance; a prerequisite for sport.

TEST INSTRUCTIONSA thorough explanation of the test objectives and instructions for

performing the tests should be completed prior to test administration. Since the tests are physically demanding, care must be taken not to conduct the tests during time of extreme heat and/or humidity.

The participants should be encouraged to do their best in each test. The participants should dress appropriately for physical activity. The five tests should be administered in sequence, as the supplementary data are important to add to the overall fitness profile of the participant.

Page 7: International Physical PerformanceTest Booklet

PREPARATION The test can be administered in a gymnasium or outside on the playground The tape measure is anchored against the gymnasium wall with the tape measuring ‘0’ at the

base of the wall. The measuring tape is then extended and secured to the floor. A mat is placed against the wall over the measuring tape A 1-meter mark is measured from the wall and marked Students will sit on the mat to perform the test One person is needed to check the participant’s positioning prior to the throw

-the participant’s shoulders remain in contact with the wall at all times One person is needed to measure the distance of the throw One recorded is needed to record the distance on to the Master Score Sheet

DIRECTIONS Each participant is allowed two (2) recorded trials The participant sits on the mat with his/her back against the wall and feet behind the 1-meter

mark (see Fig. 4 below)-knees can be bent or straight

Shoulders must remain in contact with the wall on the throw The ball is held with the palms facing outward and is thrust forcefully from the chest using both

arms (see Fig. 5 below) The distance will be measured with a straight edge measuring tool (see Fig. 6 below) The ball mark nearest the student will be measured

RECORDING SCORES Measurements are recorded in centimeters (cm) Both trials are recorded on the Master Score Sheet The score recorder will circle the best trial

DISQUALIFICATIONA trial will not be recorded when one or all of the following occurs:

Students may not move their feet beyond the 1-meter mark when throwing Students may not move their shoulders from the wall while throwing

III. T-TEST

OBJECTIVETo monitor the development of speed with directional change

EQUIPMENT One stopwatch per timer Cones Tape Measure Rubber Rings (14-16 cm.) Chalk (for outdoor use) Masking Tape (for indoor use) Master Score Sheet Colored Felt Pens (for indoor use) Writing Utensils

PREPARATION

Page 9: International Physical PerformanceTest Booklet

The test can be administered on a clean, smooth surface The course is measured in meters

Measure ten (10) meters from the start/finish line and trace a circle-outdoors use chalk, indoors use masking tape and felt pens

Measure five (5) meters to the left of the center of the circle and trace a second circle Measure five (5) meters to the right of the center of the circle and trace a third circle The course will form a perfect “T” (see diagram) Place the cones behind the marked circles and at the start/finish line A timer and recorder will need to be assigned

DIRECTIONS Each student is allowed one (1) recorded trial The timer will start time on the ‘GO’ command (see Fig. 7 below for start position) On the ‘GO’ command the participant will:

o run forward ten (10) meters to touch the central marked circle with one footo side-step (shuffle) five (5) meters to the left and touch the marked circle with the

left hand (see Fig. 8 and 9 below)o continue side-stepping (shuffling) to the right ten (10) meters and touch the

marked circle with the right hando side-step (shuffle) to the left five (5) meters to the central marked circle and touch

with one footo finish by backpedaling ten (10) meters through the finish line (see Fig. 10 below)

The stopwatch is stopped when one foot crosses the finish line

RECORDING Times are recorded to the 1/100 of a second Record times on the Master Score Sheet

DISQUALIFICATIONA trial will not be recorded if a participant does one or all of the following:

Participants may not touch the cones Participants must touch the circles as indicated Participants must side-step (shuffle), NO CROSSING OF THE FEET!
