For the Bonspiel Management Team

Dear Curlers,

I would like to welcome everyone to Murrayfield ice rink for the 15th year of the International Junior Curling Club Bonspiel. This is a great chance for young curlers to meet their peers from around the world and gain new experiences. The IJCCB is not only a way for the young curlers to improve their knowledge in curling but also learn about Scottish culture. I wish everyone the best of luck in the competition and hope you all enjoy your time in Scotland.

David BairdPresident Gogar Park Young Curlers

On behalf of the local organising committee I wish you all a very warm welcome to Edinburgh. Gogar Park Young Curlers are delighted to host the 2017 IJCCB and our team have been working extremely hard to provide you with what should be a truly memorable curling experience. A massive thank you to all the individuals and businesses who have supported this bonspiel. Edinburgh is a beautiful and historic city which we hope you will find time to explore between games. We wish you all good curling and an enjoyable weekend!

Competition InformationCompetition InformationAllister Boyd Award:Each player from each league will vote for one player of their League for this Special award. Votes should be based on fair play, communication between players and teams on and off the ice, promoting the ethos and camaraderie of Curling and not so much his or her performance on the ice. Please do not leave valuables in the changing rooms or on the barrier

Mobile telephones (Handy/Portable):These items must be switched off when on the ice!Drinks, food, broom bags, rubbish, etc:After each game, every team should clear the area behind the rink and take all their belongings with them.Alcoholic beverages:We want to make clear to all participants that Scottish law does not allow minors under the age of 18 to purchase or drink alcoholic beverages anywhere. The LOC and BMT fully backup the campaign of the Curling Associations for a non-alcoholic; drug and nicotine free junior curling experience. Therefore, the consumption of alcoholic beverages during the Bonspiel weekend is ZERO for all Players. Under no circumstances must private purchases of alcohol be taken into or consumed in the ice hall or accommodation areas. * Please see the special note at the end on the Scottish Licencing Law - ‘Challenge 25’.Non Smoking RuleSmoking is forbidden in the Curling Hall, the Hotel and any venue visited, except for the designated areas indicated at each location.

What to bring:Please bring your national or regional flag for the opening and closing ceremonies. It’s also a nice tradition that teams exchange a small gift before each game (a club pin, a traditional sweet, a team-picture etc.). Accommodation:Accommodation will be at the’ Ibis Hotel’, Edinburgh Park, Edinburgh. Rooms will be twin or triple. The LOC have tried to keep the teams and coaches together. But some might have to share rooms with other teams and nations. All rooms featuring en-suite bathrooms, air-cooling and a flat-screen TV. All rooms are 100% non-smoking.

*Scottish Licencing Law - ‘Challenge 25’. Due to an amendment in the Licensing Laws (Scotland) Act 2005, called ‘Challenge 25’, there is a mandatory condition for all premises licences and occasional licences. With this change, the law has set a minimum age of 25 years for the policy so, where it appears to the person selling the alcohol that the customer may be under the age of 25 years, they are required to ask them for identification to prove that they are over the age of 18 and can lawfully purchase alcohol. As a result of this change in the law, customers in any premises in Scotland licensed for the sale of alcohol, including pubs, clubs, restaurants, supermarkets and convenience stores may be asked to produce photographic identification where they appear under the age of twenty five.

We would like to remind you again that no alcohol or smoking is allowed in the Ice Rink or the Hotel or any visited venue, and the consumption of alcoholic beverages during the Bonspiel weekend is ZERO for all Players!
