Teresian College, started in 1963 is a first grade Arts, Science and Commerce College for Women, affiliated to the Mysore University. Located in Mysore 4 k.m away from the heart of the city, on Malai Mahadeshwara Road and sprawled on a 25 acre campus in a lush green backdrop, the College offers a serene atmosphere for study and personality development.

The college is managed by St. Teresa’s Education Society, which was founded by Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (C.S.S.T). C.S.S.T is a religious congregation dedicated primarily to education. Today the congregation runs 70 school and 6 colleges all over India and a few countries abroad.

- Infosys BPO and Technical field on 10th Feb. at JSS Women’s College, Mysore. 35 students were selected from our college from B.com, BBM and B.Sc.

- WIPRO and I GATE PATNI, campus interview on 8th and 21st February. 5 students were selected from B.Sc. and 1 student from M.Sc.

- HP COMPANY interview was on 24th Feb. at JSS College Ooty Road, Mysore. 2 students were selected from B.Com

- Northerns Trust campus interview was held in our college on 9th March 2012. 7 students were selected from B.Com and 1 student from BBM.

• Conducted World Humanitarian Day on 19th August 2011. Chief Guest Sr. Alice, Manager of SUMANA Rural Development Centre gave a talk on the occassion.

• A talk on ‘Mahila Power Account’ by Shri Narayana Murthy, Manager, Corporation Bank, Siddartha Nagar, for the teaching and non-teaching staff was arranged.

• Visited Anthropological Survey of India on 29th September 2011 to study Hero-Stones and Sati-Stones.

• Students participated in the Heritage walk conducted by the Heritage Department on 24th February 2012

• Visited Srirangapatna on 20th March 2012.

♦ Department of Sociology:

• Organised Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day in collaboration with IARF, India chapter and Forum for Hormony and Peace, Mysore on 9th August 2011. Guests Mrs. Pushpalatha T. B. Chikanna, Mayor of Mysore, Mrs. M. A. Hemalatha, IARF, Mr. S. Shabeer Ahamed were present.

• Students displayed highlights of 2011 census through charts on notice board from 12th -16th September 2011.

• Celebrated World Peace Day on 21st September 2011. Rev. Fr. Wilfred Frank, O.C.D., was the Chief Guest. Members of Art of Living Foundation presented a musical concert.

• Students attended a two day state level seminar “Missing Girls and Women, Issues and Implications” on 23rd -24th January 2012 at Rani Bahadur Institute of Management Science, University of Mysore

• Interactions of students with members of N.G.O. PRATAM working on child literacy on 29th February 2012

• World Tourism Day was celebrated on 14th October 2011. Mrs. Shwetha Poonacha, Database website executive for Bharath International Travels was the Chief Guest

• “Interface with poets” Dr. Amir Or an award winning poet from Tel Aviv, Israel and Dr. Mudnakudu Chinnaswamy a well known poet in Kannada were invited to recite and speak about their poetry.

• Lecture on “Drama with reference to Dr.Faustus” was organised on 21st March 2012. Prof. B N Balajee, Professor of English was the Guest speaker.

• “Teretel” Newsletter was released on 30th March 2012. ♦ Department of Hindi:

• Word a day programme is initiated • Celebrated ‘Hindi Diwas’ on 26th September 2011. The chief guest for the occasion

was Mudaliar, chairman, department of studies in Hindi, University of Mysore. • Competitions like the debate, poetry writing, essay writing, patriotic solo singing

was conducted. • Visited folklore museum in Manasagangothri on 17th March 2012.

♦ Department of Kannada:

• Kannada awareness programme was conducted on 1st May 2011 in collaboration with Kannada Development Council Bengaluru. Prof. C Naganna was the chief guest.

• Kannada association was initiated and inaugurated on 9th August 2011. Rev. Fr. Arul Raj was the chief guest.

• Celebrated ‘International year of chemistry’ on 22nd October 2011. Dr. H S Yathirajan Inaugurated the lecture series, deliverd a lecture on crystal structure of small molecules and prof. Keshav Bulbule, HOD of Chemistry, Nijalingappa College Bengaluru also delivered a lecture on ‘Metal without Mining’.

• Poster presentation and written quiz competition was conducted on 10th March 2012.

• Students participated in science exhibition conducted by Yuvaraja’s college and seminar competition conducted by Maharini’s science college for women.

• Exhibited model in the zonal level science exhibition and one of the exhibits won the consolation prize.

• Students visited sugar factory in Mandya.

• Arranged a talk on Linear Algebra on 9th February 2012 by Dr. Ashok Rao along with Department of Mathematics.

• Organised inter-departmental-talk in association with Christianity Department on “the need of value integration into personality development” by Prof. V K Jose.

• Oraganised commerce week from March 12th to 16th by conducting various competitions.

• World ‘Suicide prevention day’ on 10th September 2011. Rev. Sr. Olinda, Women counsellor, Chethana Counselling centre was the chief guest.

• Talk on ‘soft skills’ by Mr. Clyde D’ Costa faculty of S. J. C. Engineering college, Mysore on 4th October 2011.

• Industrial visit to Infosys on 7th January 2012 • The first Management festival ‘Aarohan-2012’ was held on 27th March 2012,

various events were conducted to exhibit the management skills and knowledge like Inspiron- taste of success, cynapase-battle of brains, Innocrea-marketing of products, vanquish and saorise.

NEN association conducted E-Week.

The College organized an inter-college Cultural Fest “Shristi” on 2nd April 2012. This programme helped our students to show case their talents in organizing and enhanced their leadership qualities.
