Selection Process for Applicants
Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of their academic achievement (in progress or
completed). Applicants who do not possess a Grade 11 or 12 Visual Arts credit at the (M) or
(Open) level with a minimum 65% will be required to submit a portfolio.
Applicants selected for the program will be notified by mail and their Sheridan email account.
These decisions will not be released over the phone. Fee, registration and timetable
information will follow. Classes for the fall term begin Tuesday, September 8, 2020.
Applicants who are required to submit a portfolio, must do so online. The online submission system will open on November 1, 2019.
Instructions for Online Submission of Additional Admission Requirements
1. LOGIN: You will be required to use your Sheridan username and password to login to
the online submission system at http://cerebro.ddi.sheridanc.on.ca/PortfolioSubmission
2. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS: Once you login you will be required to acknowledgethat you have read the instructions.
3. PAYMENT: You will be required to make a payment of $50 Canadian with a debit orcredit card for your portfolio to be assessed. If you have already paid a portfolio feefor a program in the fall term, you will not be required to pay the fee again for anotherprogram in the same term.
4. UPLOAD FILES: Select “Upload Files” to remit your portfolio, which includes a letter
of intent and samples of work:
a. Letter of intent (PDF, maximum 300 words)
Your letter of intent must include responses to the following:
• Why Interior Decorating?
• Why Sheridan College?
• Why you?

b. Sample Images (10 images, jpeg or png)
Your samples must include colour or black and white images of 10 pieces of your
best work; 3 of these MUST be freehand sketches of still life. The other 7 pieces
may be a selection of the following: paintings, architectural drafting, renderings,
AutoCAD drawings, perspectives, or other 2 or 3-dimensional creative works, which
may be relevant to your application (i.e. photography, sculpture, etc.). Please
number each image. Maximum image file size is 5MB.
c. Image Description (PDF)
Please provide a description of each numbered image and include the image
number, date, medium, and concept.
READ THE SPECIFICATION for each category and verify that your files are suitable.
When you are ready to upload, drag your files into the appropriate drop zone. When the
upload is complete, you will either see the files you have submitted added to your list, or
a message describing the problem with the submitted file.
5. SUBMIT FOR EVALUATION: If you are finished selecting and uploading files, you may
now click “Submit for Evaluation” to notify Sheridan that your portfolio is complete and
ready for grading. During the grading process, your files will be locked and unable to be
changed.
Additional Information
1. Mobile Computer Technology
Interior Decorating students are required to have a Sheridan approved laptop to
participate in the program. Laptop specifications will be announced in early summer
2020. At that time, please check the Sheridan website at:

2. Check your Sheridan email account frequently.
Many of the communications you receive from Sheridan come to you exclusively via
your Sheridan email account.
