Portfolio requirements are subject to change from year to year. Do not submit any portfolio materials unless specifically instructed to do so, after applying to the program. Once you have applied to this program, specific portfolio instructions and submission details will be provided to you in your Sheridan Student Account. Selection Process for Applicants Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of their academic achievement (in progress or completed). Applicants who do not possess a Grade 11 or 12 Visual Arts credit at the (M) or (Open) level with a minimum 65% will be required to submit a portfolio. Applicants selected for the program will be notified by mail and their Sheridan email account. Classes for the fall term begin Tuesday, September 8, 2020. Instructions for Applicants After applying to the program, some applicants will be required to submit a Letter of Intent and Portfolio of sample images online, and will receive submission instructions. a. Letter of intent (maximum 300 words) Your letter of intent must include responses to the following: Why Interior Decorating? Why Sheridan College? Why you? b. Sample Images (10 images, jpeg or png) Your samples must include colour or black and white images of 10 pieces of your best work; 3 of these MUST be freehand sketches of still life. The other 7 pieces may be a selection of the following: paintings, architectural drafting, renderings, AutoCAD drawings, perspectives, or other 2 or 3-dimensional creative works, which may be relevant to your application (i.e. photography, sculpture, etc.). c. Image Description (PDF) Please provide a description of each numbered image and include the image number, date, medium, and concept. Interior Decorating students are required to have a Sheridan approved laptop to participate in the program. Laptop specifications will be announced in early summer 2020.
