In the afternoon, the eight students from Bahcesehir University and eight students of MWU made presentations held at the review
room of the architectural studio. Vice president Kuru and Dean Eyuce also took part in the review.
At the end, on behalf of the students from Bahcesehir University, Ms. Dilara Sezgin greeted saying, ”We have had very wonderful
experiences and are full of the feelings of gratitude. We expect that this program will continue from now on and our exchange will
deepen. We are waiting for you in Turkey”. Then, messages written by students in colored papers were given to each of the eight
students from Turkey by the students of MWU.

5-1)The opening ceremony for the Institute of Turkish Culture Studies in Mukogawa Women's University
July 29th, 2009
The “Institute of Turkish Culture Studies” in Mukogawa Women’s University was opened inside the Koshien Hall, which was also
a university building belonging to the Department of Architecture. The opening ceremony was held on Wednesday, July 29th. The
Institute of Turkish Culture Studies will research about Turkey, which is positioned on the other side opposite of Japan of the Silk
Road, and deepen the interaction with people in Turkey. Moreover, the goal is to further and broadly understand the culture and
the way of life of countries located around the Silk Road. Moreover, the "Institute of Japanese Culture Studies" will be established in
Bahcesehir university in March, 2010, and various researches will be done through both centers.
About 250 people, including Chairman of MWU Ryo Ogawara, President of MWU Naosuke Itoigawa, Prof. Selahattin Kuru, Vice
president of Bahcesehir University, Mr. Burak Karacan, the cultural attache of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Japan,
attended the opening ceremony, which was held in the Koshien hall in the morning of July 29th.
Chairman Ogawara greeted saying, "The first step of the ambitious plan has started, which is to deepen research and a mutual
understanding by making this institute into a base, and to contribute to the peace and prosperity of the area", and Vice president Kuru
greeted saying, “I think that Kansai and Istanbul have many common features historically and culturally. We would like to advance
research on culture, architecture and so forth, of both countries taking advantage of the establishment of this institute.”
Then, Prof. Ahmet Eyuce, Dean of Faculty of Architecture and Design of Bahcesehir University made the commemorative speech on
"Culture and Architecture".
