    HOW ENERGY MANAGEMENT IS TREATED

    IN LATVIA?

Energy Efficiency Law (approved in early 2016)

    Article 7 foresees:

    • (2) The major cities introduce and certify energy management system in

their municipalities according to LVS EN ISO 50001:2012 standard

    • (3) Regional municipalities with development index above 0.5 and population

above 10000, introduce energy management system in their municipalities

according to LVS EN ISO 50001:2012 standard or suggestions of Ministry of

    Economics

    HOW TO ENSURE MONITORING?

Everyone will have its own approach

Need of procedure to receive energy and other data

Need of tools to analyse energy data, e.g. excel, online tools

Working together with the responsible, e.g. technicians of the

    buildings

Collection of additional information, e.g. inside temperature,

    equipment etc.

    MAIN CONCLUSIONS

Creation and implementation of an Energy management system with

    SEAP:

    • Ensures better/faster understanding in the municipalities about need for

    sustainable energy planning

    • Faster (and more concentrated) involvement of the top management

    • Provides detail structure how to proceed and what will be results

    • Ensures hiring an energy manager

    • Increase understanding of the real value of the SEAP

    • Allows set ambitious long term targets
