Why are cities interested in joining Integra?

•Integra is an attractive initiative as it proposes a concept of making a city/town known from a sustainable and modern point of view at European level.

•It places some non well-know small-medium size cities on the map (Ex. Ryanair)

•It incentives working together in order to attract stable tourism in wider areas

•Integra provides the tools to build an standardized tourism &

transport information to the visitor.

What could be the main barriers for Integra to be accepted?•Uncertainty about the costs and obligations of being a member.

•For cities which have invested in tourism resources and, as a result, can offer detailed tourism information (advanced websites, booking services on-line, popular social network sites, apps) Integra could not be the solution.

•Diversity of national/European networks with similar goals

•For well-known touristic destinations Integra could imply a loss of their differential characteristics as they are compared to other spots. (Demand-split)

•Initial inconsistency of the journey planner which could lead to a lack of confidence in the local information provided by members.

What should be the main actions to overcome the barriers?•Definition of a complete a clear list of responsibilities to be developed by members.

•Promotion of Integra not as a rival but as a complementary tool to existing local tourism & transport information utilities.

•Integration and cooperation with existing national/European networks. Support by national public bodies and transport & tourism lobbies.

•Further development and widespread usage of the Integra on-line resources (Integra portal – facebook – social networks).

•Establish a clear and remarkable difference between Integra cities and non-integra cities.
