Installing the EEMS SST Server as a Service

1. Put the service and the Reader DLL (SST Server.exe, and Elliott SST Reader.dll) in a folder somewhere that the service can reside permanently.

2. Create a text file called: ConStr.txt.

3. Write a connection string into the text file. Here are a few formats that will work for SQL, ODBC, and Access (you will have to change values of course):

a. Data Source=EDSSTL_DVLP2;Initial Catalog=EEMS_7000_993;Persist Security Info=True; User ID=sa;Password=password

b. Dsn=EEMS;uid=sa;pwd=password c. Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="Z:\ACCESS

DB\Elliott_be.mdb"

4. Back-up a directory and give permissions to the Network Service user so that it can use anything in the folder.



5. Check to ensure the rights carried over to the EXE and DLL inside the folder, if

not, give Network Service rights to each file. 6. Search for InstallUtil.exe within C:\Windows.

7. Look for one in the results, best candidates are going to be in

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\vX.X.XXXXX\, but if that one does not exist, it could be in other places depending on which version of Windows you are running. Also, it may be key to find one that has an X86 in the file path as trying to install it as an X64 will not work.

8. Open up the command prompt and browse to the directory containing the EXE you just found using the CD command.



9. Run InstallUtil.exe on the service with the following command: InstallUtil “C:\EEMS\SST Server\SST Server.exe” You should see a message like the following once you are done:



10. Start the service (Click Control Panel -> Click Administrative Tools -> Click Services -> Click Elliott SST Server)

11. If the service starts successfully and there are no errors, then it all worked, and you’re done.

12. Ensure that the ConStr.txt is deleted, if it is not deleted, check inside it to see if

the connection string you once put in it is now encrypted. If neither of these are true, the service did not run properly.

1. Turn OFF DHCP: SSTCMD1134ND0

2. Set IP Address: SSTCMD1134NA172.16.0.50



3. Reset Reader: SSTCMD1134NRUu

4. Factory Reset: SSTCMD1134U



Register SST reader with SST Server service

After SST Service is started, then you’ll need to configure and register the SST reader(s). Start in C:\EEMS\SST Server\SST Controller.exe

Once connected “Add Reader”



When the reader connects, the grid will display green. You may have to restart the “Elliott SST Server” service via Control Panel.

Once connected, you can close “SST Controller” utility and start CSM/EEM and test scan When the SST reader is connected, it will display a solid amber LED
