Install Guide

CD-KEYDuring the install process ofRollerCoaster Tycoon 3, you will be required to input a CD-KEYbefore the install process can proceed.

The CD-KEY forRollerCoaster Tycoon 3CD-ROM is printed on a sticker attached to theCD-ROM tray, CD-ROM case or the CD-ROM disc sleeve.

Input the key when the installer prompts you to do so.DO NOT LOSE THIS KEY! THE GAMECANNOT BE INSTALLED WITHOUT IT.

THE README FILETheRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 CD-ROM game has a ReadMe file where you can view both theLicense Agreement and updated information about the game. We strongly encourage you to takethe time to read this file in order to benefit from changes made after the manual went to print.

To view this file, double-click on it in theRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 directory found on your harddrive (usually C:\Program Files\Atari\RollerCoaster Tycoon 3). You can also view the ReadMefile by first clicking on the Start button on your Windows taskbar, then on Programs, then onAtari, then on RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, and then on the ReadMe file.

DirectX: DirectX version 9.0 (included) or higher

*Indicates device should be compatible with DirectX version 9.0 or higher.

SETUP AND INSTALLATION1. Start Windows 98/Me/2000/XP.

2. Insert theRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 CD-ROM game disc into your CD-ROM drive.

3. If AutoPlay is enabled, theRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 launcher screen should appear. IfAutoPlay is not enabled, or the installation does not start automatically, click on the Start

button on your Windows taskbar, then on Run. Type D:\Setup.Now and click on OK. Note: Ifyour CD-ROM drive is assigned to a letter other than D, substitute that letter.

4. On theRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 launcher screen, click the Install button and follow the on-screen instructions to finish installing theRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 CD-ROM game.

5. Once installation is complete, you may launch the game either from the launcher screen by

clicking Play, or by clicking on the Start button on the Windows

taskbar, then Programs >Atari > RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 > Play RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 (for XP users, click on theStart button, then on All Programs > Atari > RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 > PlayRollerCoaster Tycoon 2).

Note: You must have theRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 game disc in your CD-ROM drive to play.

Installation of DirectX

TheRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 CD-ROM requires DirectX 9.0 or higher in order to run. . If youdo not have DirectX 9.0 or higher installed on your computer, click Yes to accept the DirectX

9.0 License Agreement. This will then launch the DirectX 9.0 Install.

Microsoft PhotoStory 3

Microsoft Photo Story 3 for Windows lets you create fun and exciting video stories from yourpictures. By using Photo Story 3, you can touch-up, add motion, effects, music, and more to yourpictures and save them as a video story that you and others can watch in a media player thatsupports playback of Windows Media Video (WMV) files, such as Windows Media Player 10.

Photo Story 3 is included withRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 so you can share the screenshots and thepeep photos you take inRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 with your friends and family in a fun andexciting way.

When you are installingRollerCoaster Tycoon 3, the setup program will ask you if you want toinstall Photo Story 3. To install Photo Story 3 for Windows, clickOK, and then follow theinstructions on the screen. IfPhoto Story 3 for Windows is already installed on your computer, orif your computer is not running the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, the game setup

program will skip this step.Note: To installMicrosoft Photo Story 3 for Windows, your computer must be running theMicrosoft Windows XP operating system, and Windows Media Player 10 must be installed. For acomplete list of system requirements, see the Microsoft Photo Story 3 for Windows Web site(www.microsoft.com/photostory).

If you do not choose to install Photo Story 3 when you are first installingRollerCoaster Tycoon3, you can choose to install Photo Story 3 at any time by doing the following:

1 Insert theRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 CD in your CD-ROM drive. In Windows Explorer, locatethePhoto Story 3 for Windowsfolder on the game CDROM, and then doubleclick thePhoto Story 3 Setup file named PStory.msi to begin installing Photo Story 3.

INSTALLING ADOBE ACROBAT READER 5.1After the game installer finishes copying files to your hard drive, you may wish to install Adobe

Acrobat Reader 5.0. This program is needed to read the electronic game manual.

Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.1 requires the following:

64 MB of RAM

24 MB of available hard-disk space

Additional 70 MB of hard-disk space for Asian fonts (optional)

Windows-compatible printer for printing

To install Acrobat Reader, double-click on the icon labeled My Computer. Then right-click onthe icon for your CD-ROM drive (which is usually D:) and choose Explore from the pop-upmenu. If the AutoPlay menu is visible, you may simply explore the CD by clicking on theExplore CD button. Double-click on the Manual folder. Then double-click on the ar505enu.exefile to install Acrobat Reader. Click on the Finish button to exit the Acrobat Reader installer.

VIEWING THE ELECTRONIC GAME MANUALThe instruction manual for theRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 game has been placed on the game CD-

ROM in Adobe Acrobat Reader format. Use Acrobat Reader to read and print the documentation.

2 Insert theRollerCoaster Tycoon 3 disc into your CD-ROM drive.

3 Close the program window if the AutoPlay window appears.

4 Double-click on the icon labeled My Computer. Then right-click on the icon for your CD-

ROM drive (which is usually D:) and choose Explore from the pop-up menu. Next double-

click on the Manual folder and then double-click on the RCT3_Manual.pdffile to view the

manual.

To print the game manual, select Print from the File menu. Choose the pages you wish to print

and click on the OK button.

Acrobat Help File

For more instruction on using Acrobat Reader, you can read the help file that comes with the

program. Select Reader Help from the Help menu.

Other Acrobat Tips

5 You can move through a document one page at a time by pressing the RIGHT ARROW key

to advance to the next page or the LEFT ARROW key to back up one page.

6 You can move through a document one screen at a time by pressing the PAGE DOWN key to

scroll down one screen or the PAGE UP key to scroll up one screen.

7 To increase text visibility, click on the magnifying glass in the toolbar.
