NEW - Training Charges 2018 - 2019
We apologise for the delay in producing the programme in

Due to a new formula for calculating training charges we
have had to increase the charges applicable to training
courses. We have set charges that are still excellent value
for money and that compete with other providers. The
charges that are already on the system will stay as they are
(e.g. Safeguarding) but any new courses will have new
charges attached. The new charges are as follows (unless
stated otherwise):
QIP Event Costs
£50 per person attending from Family Centres, Day
Nurseries, Pre-Schools and Playgroups
£40 per person attending from Out of School Clubs and

Speakers: Alice Sharp of Experiential Play
Every day, every experience and everyone we meet evokes an emotional response in each one of us. As adults,
we are more attuned to this; however, for very young children it can be unknown or unexplored territory.
Ben Tawil- Leeds Beckett University and Ludicology - Play, Resilience and Wellbeing: The Important Role of
Flexibility, Uncertainty and Risk in Play
Play has been present in human behaviour throughout evolution and as such we can understand its significance in
our ‘being’ and our becoming’.
Workshops
1. Ben Tawil - Loose Parts Play: Making sense of the research
‘Loose parts’ interventions, facilitated through a play-centred approach, demonstrate sustained benefits
both regarding children’s increased physical activity and the quality of children’s self‐initiated play, while
having broad reaching influence on children’s daily lives.
2. Miranda Henson - Making Movement Matter
The practical movement workshop will enable practitioners to promote health and well – being in the early
years settings.
3. Museums & Culture/Parks for People- Discover the Arts at Cannon Hall
This workshop will take you through the many opportunities on offer for children at the park
4. Barnsley Youth Choir and Little Singers - Simple Singing Using Kodaly Technique
Eleanor Wright offers a practical workshop that will demonstrate a variety of simple singing games that
can be used in any Early Years setting
5. MIND – Mindfulness
6. Alice Sharp - The role of communication and language in supporting PSED
When considering how best to support our children in developing their literacy skills we must consider
learning for the 21st century.

Kate Cairns Associates E-Learning Training Early Childhood Services have purchased licences to a number of e-learning courses, from Kate Cairns Associates, that are now available to you and your staff. Below are details of all the licences that we have access to. These courses have been written specifically for childcare practitioners and courses are aimed at providing continuing professional development; targeted at the most senior and experienced practitioners, to induction training for new staff. These courses lead to confident, informed practice based on up to date research. As part of the licence you also complete a learning journal which allows you to reflect on what you have learnt as you work through the course. Throughout each course there are structured activities which require learners to 'stop and think' or 'go and do' and to record your discoveries in your online journal. Once you have your login details you have the flexibility to complete the training at a time to suit you. At the end of each course you have to complete a quiz. You have three opportunities to complete this and the highest score is printed on your certificate, which you print off yourself. You will also be assigned a mentor from Early Childhood Services who you can interact with at any point to discuss and help you with any parts of the training. Cost of these courses is £20 per applicant If you would like to access any of the e-learning courses, please email [email protected] with the title of the course and the name/s of the practitioners.
