Summer Professional Learning

Opportunities

Dear Educator: Summer is a time to get some much needed rest and relaxation after a busy school year. It is also a time to rejuvenate and invigorate your skills as an educator. As you make your summer plans, consider attending one of our many professional learning opportunities. For 2017 our goal is to build deeper content knowledge among teachers. We are excited to provide sessions at off-site locations this year: JSU’s Little River Canyon Center in Fort Payne, JSU’s Mountain Center in Heflin, and the Pell City Board of Education to name a few. Along with the Inservice Center itself, these additional sites provide greater convenience for folks in the northern, eastern, and western portions of our service area. All sessions, unless indicated otherwise, are open to any public school teacher in the state of Alabama. As you probably know, JSU Inservice administers the Alabama Technology in Motion program (ATIM), Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI), and the Alabama Science in Motion program (ASIM) for Region Six. Specialists from these outstanding programs are offering sessions for teachers along with programs by presenters from around the region and around the state. The sessions offered this summer are of high quality and focus on critical needs based on input from field surveys as well as meetings with district and school-based staff. We hope you will take advantage of these offerings and encourage your colleagues to do the same. Lastly, getting the word to every teacher about the programming and services we offer is on-going challenge. We encourage you to visit our website at www.jsu.edu/inservice, like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/jsuinservice, or follow us on Twitter @jsuinservice. Additionally, you can join our text message service by sending the message @jsu100 to 81010. You may also provide us with your work email address to be added to our contact list. We promise not to distribute your information or bombard you with too many messages. The Inservice Center staff are here to serve you. We are educators serving educators. Please let us know your thoughts. Email us at [email protected] or call (256) 782-5986. Have a great summer. We hope to see you at one of our sessions soon. Yours truly, Eric C. Lee Director JSU Inservice Education Center
