Industrial centrifugal fans, recognizably Venti

Venti Oelde designs and con-structs each centrifugal fan onthe basis of the specific pro- c ess parameters. The seriesHRV, DHRV, ZHRV and HVencompass volume flows fromsmaller than 5,000 to above3,000,000 m³/h. The totalpressure differences rangefrom 1,500 to 65,000 Pa. A fan with optimum efficiencycan, therefore, be found forany required operating point.

The operating data determinewhether we build our centrifu-gal fans as single inlet, dou-ble inlet or multi-stage fans.Operating temperaturesextend to 500 °C and higher.Impellers are overhung ormounted between bearings.The centrifugal fans are withdirect drive, through couplingor with v-belt drive.

Overhung impeller and appropriate inlet configuration

Depending on the operatingdata, our centrifugal fans aredesigned to be either single ordouble inlet, i.e. single-width ordouble-width. On the basis ofthe geometry, masses, speedand the expected load on therotor, we determine, togetherwith the customer, whether theimpeller is to be overhung or

mounted between bearings.With double inlet centrifugalfans, the medium handledenters via inlet boxes that areflange-mounted to the fan inletside or are directly welded tothe volute casing.

Mounting industrial fans on aconcrete foundation ensureshigh torsional stiffness andnegates the need for a weldedmotor pedestal. Recessedfoundations or raised concretefoundations are suitable.Anchoring the fan directly tothe raised concrete foundationis preferable to the steel con-struction particularly if, as aresult of the operational condi-tions, rotor unbalance is to beexpected. If required, we canalmost completely eliminatedynamic interaction betweenfan and base by fitting vibra-tion dampers between them.

The inlet side of a fan withoverhung rotor is configuredwith a flange-mounted duct ora shaped inlet, possibly includ-ing an interposed damper.

Air flows to rotors mountedbetween bearings throughinlet boxes. The dampers arearranged as multi-bladed lou-ver dampers in front of theinlet boxes or inlet vane con-trols downstream of the inletboxes.

We also use external oil sup-ply systems for the lubricationof bearings and drives; ifrequired, in compliance withAPI Standard 614.

Rotor turning gear units areused to slowly rotate the fanwhen maintenance work isdue or to permit the fan toslowly and uniformly cooldown when the main drivehas been switched off. Thechosen rotating speed is nor-mally very low, but sufficientto maintain lubrication of thefan bearings.

We fit our fans with bearingssupplied by reputable manu-facturers. When hot gases are being handled, coolingimpellers between the casingand bearing ensure the re-moval of residual and creepingheat. In critical cases, oil-cir -culating lubrication providesadditional bearing cooling.

Drum and disc brakes serve toshorten the run-down timewhen the fan has beenswitched off and to retain thefan when it is at a standstill.

Venti Oelde also designs theshaft seals individually accord-ing to the specific plant operat-ing conditions; if required,multi-chamber labyrinth sealswith sealing gas connectionare used. Sealing the shaftpassage through the casingprevents dust or toxic gasesescaping or ambient air con-taminating the medium han-dled.

Venti Oelde combats wearcaused by friction and impactto impellers and inside casingwalls with a variety of mea s-ures. Effective protective pro-cedures are decided duringthe fan planning phase withthe goal of prolonging servicelife by using suitable materi-als, high-precision machiningand optimum blade geometry.

If specified, we can almostcompletely eliminate dynamicinteraction between fan andbase by fitting vibrationdampers between them.Vibration dampers, togetherwith flexible joints, ensuredecoupling between the fanand connected systems.

Finally, Venti Oeldeʼs electron-ic monitoring systems reliablyprovide cost-effective preven-tive maintenance and service.Vibration monitors control theoscillation amplitude and giveearly warning of any dreadedmaterial caking in the fan. Ourdynamic balancing systemsreduce any imbalance andvibrations by mass balancing.

Variable speed motors, louverdampers or inlet vane controlsserve to adapt the gas volumeflow to the needs of the con-nected system.

Venti Oelde offers made-to-measure noise protection: All major components of ourfans are acoustically opti-mized by our own technicaldesigns. Individual noisecontrol measures simultane-ously provide insulationagainst heat loss. VentiOelde thus offers particularlybudget-friendly solutions.

Additional measures can betaken, such as the insulationand decoupling of structure-borne noise from foundationsand connections. Carriers ofemissions to the outside, likefresh air intake ducting andstacks can be insulated, forexample, by means ofsilencers. Of course, fansand drive units can also becompletely enclosed.

Flexible joints decouple thefans from the ducting system.A suitable fabric for the flexi-ble joints is selected to fulfildemands made by the me-dium handled. The chosenfabric is usually neoprene, sili-cone-glass or PVC-polyester.Steel flexible joints haveproved particularly successfulwith difficult media.
