Individual product research- Wrigley’s Chewing

Gum

Slogan: ‘Even better, longer lasting’

Wrigley’s Doublemint chewing gum advertise their products to be: fresh, long lasting,

delicious, minty etc.

They use a pale green colour which automatically brings in the mint effect as mint is green.

The pale green is also a ‘cool’ colour rather than a warm colour. This gives us a sense that the

gum will also be ‘cool’ and fresh tasting. The writing is red and white as they both stand out

against the background.

The advert also says that it gives you fresh breathe therefore people are more likely to

purchase this product to have when they go out.

This advert states that this chewing gum beats having abs. It is clearly

aimed more so at men but would still be appealing to women.

This particular advert is slightly humorous however most of Wrigley’s

adverts are serious and cool.

Wrigley’s are such a huge company that they have made many other

products other than the original. Some examples of these are Extra,

Juicy Fruit and Airwaves. A few years ago we would have seen

Wrigley’s original advert being shown nationally however as the

chewing gum has been developed we normally see the more recent new gums such as Extra.

Overall I think that the product is aimed for all ages however the product is more appealing to

teens as they like to have ‘fresh breathe’ most of the time and teens like to chew when they

are bored.
