A PLATFORM FOR

India Retail Forum (IRF) is a congregation of the best retail brands, companies and minds from across the globe and the entire retail support fraternity including retail real estate, design & architecture, merchandise & services,

visual merchandising, security and technology.

The 2010 edition of IRF gains special significance as it presents live learning from the market that has shown significant growth in all spheres of economic activities and double digit rise in consumption. What has been the

role of modern retail in driving consumption? How some retailers grew fastest during most difficult times? Is the growth sustainable? Who is responsible for retail infrastructure? What would be the best strategy for global

players interested in entering the Indian market? How small retailers can be involved and engaged for overall retail growth in the emerging scenario?

The forum brings an opportunity to learn, share and evolve with the masters in the business, explore vibrant ideas, witness innovation in merchandise, spaces, IT and support systems, and network and celebrate outstanding

achievements in the business of retail in India.

The ‘Mecca’ for retail captains and policy makers, IRF is a ‘Must Attend’ forum for everyone wanting to connect with Indian market and her consumers.

INDIA RETAIL FORUM 2010www.indiaretailforum.in

It was indeed a privilege to chair the 2009 edition of IRF, which effectively captured the positive energies of best retail minds and signaled the resurgence of retail. I am happy that IRF succeeded in its sole objective of engineering the confidence wave –clearly reflected through the voice and expressions of over 1800 participants in this mega congregation. IRF offers a lot more than just speeches, presentations and discussions. IRF stimulates every sensory organ of ours for complete rejuvenation of our minds, bodies and souls. I experience it myself every year. I eagerly look forward to the 2010 edition of IRF which promises to be bigger, better and busier than ever!

A lot of hard work went into the repositioning of the Marks & Spencer brand in India over the last 18 months. Applying our understanding of the Indian consumer was vital to bring in the necessary changes in our product range and pricing and in our stores and communication. Winning the Images Retail Award for our successful repositioning meant a lot for the entire M&S team in India since it was a recognition of our efforts and acknowledgement from our peers that our strategy for India was on the right track. IRF is a key retail forum in Asia and winning this award here was a great feeling indeed !

At the day’s end, the forum hosts its very special gatherings to lionise the business of retail

and to raise a toast to its titans.

IRF is the pre-eminent forum for the Retail Industry in India and also attracts worldwide interest. We believe that IRF 2010 would herald a new phase in the Indian retail industry, as the country moves onto another growth trajectory. – Bijou Kurien, President & Chief Executive, Lifestyle Vertical, Reliance Retail

The economic slowdown has accentuated the challenges in getting the Indian consumer to accept modern retailing systems, especially in a relatively traditional segment like jewellery, eyewear and watches. However brands, both Indian and foreign, have an important role to play in bringing about the desired change. I am sure IRF will throw up many interesting insights and perspectives about the path ahead. – Mehul Choksi, Chairman and Managing Director, Gitanjali Group

IRF is the platform for both retailers and brands to forge a stronger partnership and explore new and innovative business models to effectively navigate this tectonic shift in the way, the Indian consumers will shop in the next 5 years and create a win-win strategy for every player in the value chain. – Sanjeev Mohanty, MD, Benetton BU, India

IRF 2010 would go beyond the cliché of networking and entertainment. 2010 edition will help us introspect on the retail journey so far; Find answers to the questions that continue to afflict the industry; & define the future. – Vikram Bakshi, Managing Director, McDonald’s India (North & East)

The Indian retail story is just beginning to unfold. Once the power of modern retailing is fully unleashed, it will have a multiplier effect on the economy and contribute towards the agenda of a more inclusive growth. IRF helps us understand and address the critical issues which will lead to an increase in the footprint of modern retailing in India. – Ajay Bijli, Managing Director, PVR Limited

With government spending on social infrastructure having almost doubled in the past two years, there lies immense opportunities for creating new markets and growing the consumption space in India. Consumer Brands, Retailers, Shopping and Leisure Centres – each one of us – would have a lot to share at the India Retail Forum and also discuss how together we can increase domestic consumption. – Kishore Biyani, Founder & CEO, Future Group

IRF supported by CII is a unique opportunity for retailers, real estate developers, supply chain & logistic companies, IT service providers, to come together to create sustainable value for consumers. This is also a unique forum to reiterate positive impact retail can have on burning national issues like employment and revenue assurance. – Thomas Varghese, Chairman, CII National Committee on Retail and Chief Executive, Aditya Birla Retail

As the retail industry is coming out of the woods, its that much more imperative for all the players and stakeholders to converge, agree on survival practices, share best practices and define the PATH for all to move forward. – Ajay Kaul, CEO, Domino’s (India)

Retail in India is possibly going to be far more exciting than what we can currently imagine. IRF is a great platform for us to share ideas to make it happen. – Kabir Lumba, ED, Lifestyle
