Organization Profile:
JKSMS is a non-governmental and non-profit organization engaged in social work for the
development, rehabilitation and protection of children and women since 1983. The main
concern of the organization is to help the
oppressed, especially children, women
and deprived communities surviving
without their basic rights and facilities.
Enabling populations to live in decent
conditions in their villages by resolving
issues such as drought, unemployment
and social injustice, JKSMS is preventing
the migration of these populations who
would otherwise outgrow the number of
people living in difficult conditions in the
city. Supported by Catholic Relief
Services, JKSMS is also undertaking
another project of drought relief in Paghi
area. This project is providing income
generation assistance to Scheduled Caste
population as substitute of their
permanent agricultural labor practices.
More than 450 people are directly
benefited through the project. Other
JKSMS projects are taking place in Jaipur city. Considering that there are around 10000
homeless children surviving in the streets because they have been abandoned or they ran
away, the organisation deserved since 1994 a programme for development, protection
health, nutrition and rehabilitation of street children through 11 centres in Jaipur city. Apna
Ghar & Mamta Apna Ghar shelter homes where runaway children (Boys & Girls) struggling
for survival can live, have food, education, health, support and many other opportunities. The
child phone helps line provide immediate relief and support to the children in distress.
Serving children through medical assistance, shelter and repatriation, JKSMS is associating
the national level network of this project. JKSMS is also supported by Medecins du Monde
(Doctors of the world) through a reproductive Health and Childcare programme. The
organizations implements innovative Packages of Practices (POPs) in three major areas of
work, like health, education & livelihood generating program for marginalized community.
JKSMS also has concerned on rural tourism promotion for stop migration of rural population
and create better work opportunity in farming & traditional crafts. This project Finally, JKSMS
is really involved with various communities for the past 27 years and new projects are
always developed to answer the needs and the rights of children and women and tradition
craft persons.
JKSMS has been implementing many projects with innovative approaches with focused on
sustainability of the all initiative. The organization got 11 awards with two national awards by
different government and non-government agencies so far for their better work.
Project Brief:
The organization implemented JJADe project to improve value chain of costume jewelry
sector. In the sector identified many gaps due to gapes sector was becoming distortion and
primary artisans were transforming their sector. Artisans were skilled but due to lack of better
market they were facing problem of survive so switch on another work for income generation
but they don’t have another skills for earn money. Some of artisan started rickshaw pulling,
Daily wages and petty business. That time, Organization identified issues and wrote
proposal to get financial assistance along with four more organization which have same
interest areas. The SEEP Network, USA (Funding Network) provided financial support to
project. The project highlighted two major aspects i.e. provide social security to poor artisans
and improve market for them. In the social security provided ID cards from government,
subsidize insurance and unit registration of primary artisan. The school also major
component of the project because sector was facing problem of skilled work force in market
and artisan engaged in the same work were rigid. They don’t want to improve their skills
according to changeable market. The trade is their family business children also involved in
stone cutting, policing and faceting. Project wants to start polite with the working children to
improve education with livelihood generating activities and financial management. The
school project focused on provides livelihood education and creates a better volume to
mainstreaming education for the children. The SEEP Network supported school for two
years under the JJADe project that period total 126 children were enrolled in the school out
of them 48 children were mainstreamed in government and private school. In Feb. 2012
JJDADe project has finished as well school also finished in same period.
Then JKSMS approached to ASHA for Education for availing financial assistance for ILM
school project. Organization submitted project to Asha for education after fulfill necessary
quarries and visit of ASHA representative. ASHA for Education agreed to provide financial
support for six months, now project is going on with support of ASHA till September -12. In
this period project achieved major milestones; Total Children in starting phase:

visit of ASHA representative reduce
numbers of children due to lack of
building availably and agreed to
provided financial assistance for 100
children. The staff of project also
exist from JJADe project so no need
to train them. They were already
trained from last project. But they did
survey again in the community to
identified non-school going children. In the phase of project enrolled 107children and other
children now also not going to school some days also come in school for just discussing with
teacher and other children. School staff also provides some coaching (home work support)
to them but without funding resources can’t able to reach more then 100 children.

Groups of children:
Total 107children of the school are divided in three groups as per knowledge and age. The
teachers made evolution of children according the age and learning levels. The children
achieved ranking on basis of numbers. Than divided in three groups namely Badal, Titali and
Dharti these three groups also have sub groups according sub-groups teachers make plan
of teaching activities. Sub groups also focus on subjects. The teachers make daily plan in
term of sub groups learning levels and implement among the children
Workshop with teachers
As per the plan of fifteen days two
workshops organize on fortnightly basis
in month. The staff of project organize
one day workshop in fortnightly basis. In
the workshop, staff of project present
report among each other. Teacher
presents report in group and other
teacher and coordinator of the project
discusses on raised issues to come out
conclusion. On base of conclusion
makes plan of up coming fifteen days.
After that the staff implements plans
with children and community. They face
problem during the implementation than, they can discuss among team and coordinator. On
basis of fifteen days planning makes everyday planning by the teachers with activities. Such
kind of routine follows every day.
Workshop on curriculum
The ILM School has their own curriculum based on NCERT, SCERT & Environment of
community. Teachers have resource book of unit by self produce in workshop of curriculum.
The all units made behalf on level of text book skills. The unit references of text book skills
but teaching activities reference to local community atmosphere through this process
provides skills to children and make enjoyable to educational activities. The curriculum of
ILM school prepared by teachers, coordinator and resource persons according child centric
but skills are improve like mainstream education, the curriculum has been changing
according the learning level of children but skills no change according the learning level,
teachers and coordinator of educational projects revise curriculum as per learning methods.
The school staff organize curriculum workshop on every Friday. There discussion on
curriculum and activities to get skills of ILM children.

Four persons are working with support of ASHA for Education and one programme manager
from JKSMS. One programme coordinator and three teachers are full time staff in the project
and programme manager is part time working as per need of the project. He is mostly
available in meetings, curriculum development and conversance to programmme with
different government and non-government departments to get availed facilities to school.
Community Contact
Community contact is major aspect of the school. Every teacher goes to in community every
day. Teacher discuss during community contact about learning status of children showing
evidence to parents. Every children has been separate file of documentation maintain on
regular basis by teachers of their group and putting all the necessary record in file during the
community contact discussion based on file. The record shows progress of children. If
children not show progressive scenario than teacher discusses problems with parents and
try to solve in up coming month. It is daily work of teacher to go one child’s home every day.
Community contact also makes sure regularity of children. If children doesn’t come on
regular basis than teacher goes to their home about know the resource of irregularity to
resolve their problems.
Community Meeting:
Community meeting ensures participation of community in the project. Community meetings
held every month. School staff is answerable to the community during the meeting. There is
discussion on issues of school raised by community members and parents of children. It is
open forum of discussion and increased participation of every member belongs to
community. In the meeting participation of community are approximately 50-60 members
each meeting. They discuss on education, management and achievement of school. Firstly,
decided issues to discuss in meeting after project coordinator present monthly report among
the community members for discussion to conclude decision and receive suggestions from
their side. There members discussion openly without any hesitation. Such kind of meetings
also ensure social audit.

Planning of next Day
Teachers work with children as per prepared plan on daily basis. After finished work with
children, the teachers make plan for next day. They sit together for one hour to discuss on
issues raised during teaching time with children. Teachers review to work did with children
and share problems come from classroom. They also make plan to improve strategy of
teaching and prepare Teaching Learning material (TLM) for classroom. Such kind of plans
makes enjoyable and quality education for deprived children. The plan ensures
accountability in terms of children and community which are spending time in school to gain
educational skill for better life. In the planning period teachers discuss on children skills and
leaning levels according that they bring new ideas and create good atmosphere for them.

Evolution & Monitoring
Teaching plans implemented among children and ensure to improvement but it is necessary
to know that plan which implemented was relevant according to children learning. So
teachers make evolution of children in two levels. One is regular to take improvement of
children through worksheets and papers made by teacher as per teaching plan and another
evolution do in end of every month. They provide question paper as a worksheet to children
for solving it is more focused on monthly activities done by the teacher in whole month.
Through this process groups make in school by the teacher. Some children improved their
skills then they promote in upper groups and some children demote in lower groups. If
children demote in lower group it will raise solid reason. The teachers write in the copy every
thing about children like; total working day of school, total presence of children, stability in
school, behavior change and learning status etc. after maintaining record teachers go on
filed to discussion with parents as we mentioned above in community contact. Teachers
Develop Creative Skills:
The ILM School improves creative skills in children through activities like; Balgeet/
Chetanageet, story telling Plays, Drawings, and cutting molding of paper and soil. These
skills are part of curriculum. Teaches and children familiar in the classroom. Children can
discuss with teachers easily without any fear. The teachers strictly avoid assault to children
in ILM School. Children of school make competition among each other to built good leaning
levels.
Child Development Khazana(CDK):
ILM school children have bank for depositing
money to save their needs. Before starting
the bank children spent money to fulfill their
bad habits like Gutkha (tobacco), Toffee
Gambling etc. if they don’t spend money
then other children stolen to money. The
children don’t have safe place to put their
money we created one place where children
can deposit their pocket money in safe
manner when they have need, they can
withdraw money. Bank introduces two
managers (Assistant Manager & Manager) to
systematize all over the process these managers elect from children in each 6 months by
democratic process. After election process elected mangers avail training from focal person
of CDK. Now school children have 66 accounts with saving money of 3970 Rs. in the CDK.
Such kind of initiative providing democratic skills among the children as well as create
financial management
Celebration of Independence Day:
On 15 August children celebrated Independence Day in the school. Community members
decided place of function in Choke of community. There community members can come
easily and Mr. Pawan Rajoriya( Corporate) was chief gust in the function community decided
to all the accepts of the function. Programme started with flag march by Mr. Rajoriya and
community representative welcomed to Mr.
Rajoriya with garland.
In the function, children play theater, songs and dance selected by the community
committee. All programs played by the children were liked by everyone be a part of this
function. Children also awarded some prizes from community representatives and Mr.
Pawan Rajoriya. ILM Teachers and SMC members distributed sweets to children and
community members. Community representative also supported to school in finance and
other arrangements.
Participated in International Children’s Meet
Butterfly is Delhi based organization organized international children’s Meet at Jaipur. There
five countries children participated for built up better understating on Child development
Khazana and improve life skills through such kind of initiative. In the conference Child Health
cooperative also discussed to promote in the community for help of poor community and
children of CDK member will play major role of this initiative. One child namely Adnan also
participated in the conference to learn and share their education taking in the ILM.
Technical Education
ILM is a school for working children. It is livelihood school initiative of JKSMS. School caters to artisan’s community of stone (Precious & Semi precious) craft and the children also are engaging in same crafts. The children come in school for gain financial education, basic quality primary education as well as trade education in term of market approach. These children come for 4 hours in the school for avail general education and vocational training in costume jewelry. So, Mr. Nanua Soni is a master crafts man. He comes 5 days in a month for giving the knowledge to children theoretical and practical. Visit by external agencies/departments/experts Time to time external expert resource persons/agencies and department officials come to ILM School for their learning and expose.
