Some parsons who are banished to another place, are

exceedingly raischiovotis during thoir stay there, whilo

others, live very quietly. It is thereforo proper that thoy

should be dealt with according to thsir behaviour. Those

aro tho reasons for the enaction of thia law.

1. If a man b3 banished to another place, and he go inaccordance with tho sentence of the law, and live quiet'y,mniutitiyfng a good character, as one endeavoring to forsake

his evil habiU and chang them for the better, if tho Nobles

hoar of thia, it shall be proper for them at thoir anunalmeeting to instituto an examination aud make inquiry, and

. if t hoy Jind that what they hmtird was true, thoy may thengrant a panlon to said crtmiirW. . .,

Tho man shall be confined no longir at his placo of banish-

ment, ho may return to his own placo. This howover doesnot apply to those who are banished for adultery. .

IE. If a man bo banished to another pl.tce, tho Govern-

ment shall supply his food for the first six months, and thoman shall cultivate the ground for himself, aud when tho fixmonths mentioned above aro expired, tho Government willaid tho man n longer, he must support hiaisjlf. And when

tho term. of years during which ho is to reside at hi3 place

of"banishment is nearly oxpired, he shall then cultivate andleave for the government, a cjrtaiu quantity of food, equal

in amount to that which had formerly been furnished hun

b' tho Government. But if he do nt leave this amount offood'fjr the Government, he suJl not hav his liberty.
