14TH SUNDAY REFLECTION

DIVINE INVITATION TO HIS PROVIDENTIAL CARE

Every invitation extended to us asks that we come along and join the party or the people and be with them wherever they are. The invitation could be to come and

join in the people's joy, happiness, celebration, feasts or to help or share in the person's sufferings or situation.There could be other reasons why invitations are

extended to us. However, this invitation given to us by the Lord speaks out strongly the reason for it and it is primarily asking us to run to Him for refuge and

succor. He is inviting us to help, care, cushion, lift, provide and attend to our distressful needs. He is simply saying that we cannot do it on our own, that He

feels our situations and is ever ready to help us and quench our thirst. The Psalmist says: "Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be shaken" (Ps 55 :22) We have found out that all our struggles are in vain without the lord. We must have to invite the lord and make him part of our plans and programs. "Commit your works tot he Lord. Ad

your plans will be established". Proverbs 16:3. St Peter is of the opinion that we have to unload all our worries upon the lord and he will take care of us. (1Pet 5: 7). We who are burdened, distressed, sickened, stricken, depressed, anguished, broken, shattered, displaced etc can come to the lord to be healed, restored,

energized, restated, rested and established. Bear in mind that "Providence has its appointed hour for everything. We cannot command results. We can only strive ."
