Philippines. It is one of ten campuses of the

MSU System, all based in the southern island of

Mindanao. MSU-IIT has five colleges, one of

which is the College of Arts and Social Sciences,

and four schools. Dr. Sukarno D. Tanggol is the

current Chancellor of MSU-IIT. MSU-IIT

only be formally confirmed during the IFSSO

General Assembly in Istanbul on 11 April 2013.

Udayana University is based in Bali, Indonesia.

It has ten faculties and two study programs. Prof.

Dr. I Wayan Cika, Dean of Udayana University’s

Faculty of Letters, attended the IFSSO Executive

Board Meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia last 29-30 May

2012 as an Observer to express his University’s

intention to join IFSSO by 2013. This was

Knowledge and presented his input paper entitled “Revisiting Ethnoscience: Studies on Indigenous

Knowledge Systems and Practices.”

Unlike a regular workshop, participants came with their input papers based on three pre-selected

themes, namely: 1) the “Western” social sciences in the global knowledge arena; 2) alternative

concepts of knowledge; and 3) Higher Education and science policies framing the global social

science arena. Based on the discussions and comments on these input papers, the presenters will

finalize their papers for future publication. This is the second Thinkshop organized by the World

SSH Net and co-sponsored by IFSSO. The first one was held in Tokyo, Japan last May 2012 with the

theme “Theories About and Strategies Against Hegemonic Social Sciences.” The next Thinkshop is

planned to be undertaken either in Colombia or India.
