Designed for optimum visibility in daylight conditions, the Civic’s high-luminance LED daytime running lights add a dynamic dash of character to its stylish exterior.

The luxury of spaceThe Civic’s clever seat configuration creates more space than you might expect. With the rear seats down, the boot space expands to a generous 1,210 litres,* including 70 litres of space in the under-floor storage area. This creates plenty of space for shopping, luggage and everyday living.

For ultimate flexibility and practicality, the seats also feature a 60:40 split that lets you carry tall loads, long loads, or a mixture of both.

Engines designed for the real world

Our i-VTEC petrol engines and i-DTEC diesel engines are designed to deliver strong fuel

economy, exhilarating performance and cleaner emissions.

The 1.4 i-VTEC delivers great performance with 100PS and achieves an impressive fuel economy of 52.3mpg* and emissions of 129g/km*. The 1.8 i-VTEC delivers a powerful 142PS but with the fuel

efficiency of a smaller engine.

The 1.6 i-DTEC delivers 120PS, with excellent fuel economy of 78.5mpg∆ and emissions

of 94g/km∆.

All manual engines have 6-speed transmission. Both manual and automatic feature a shift

indicator that informs you of the best time to change gear in order to maximise fuel economy.

For those who prefer an automatic transmission, our 1.8 i-VTEC comes in 5-speed automatic transmission, with fuel economy of 44.8mpg†

and emissions of 148g/km†.

The Deflation Warning System monitors tyre pressure and lets you know if you

might have a puncture.

DEFLATION WARNING SYSTEM (DWS)

The Civic has been fitted with airbags all around, including curtain airbags. The Dual Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) gives complete protection.

AIRBAGS

In the event of a collision, these front head restraints and 3-point ELR seatbelts help

keep passengers safe and secure.

WHIPLASH LESSENING FRONT HEAD RESTRAINTS

Whilst driving, the VSA sensors monitor grip to calculate the amount of power or braking

force needed for maximum control.

VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST (VSA)

If an emergency situation forces you to brake heavily, drivers behind you need as much

warning as possible. Emergency Stop Signal does just that, automatically flashing the hazard lights in the event of hard braking to reduce the

chance of a rear-end collision.

EMERGENCY STOP SIGNAL Feel genuinely excited, by feeling

genuinely safe Honda are committed to building the very

best safety features into every Civic. It all starts with the shell. Our Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure absorbs

and deflects impact away from you and your passengers, keeping everyone protected.

Multiple airbags, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Vehicle Stability

Assist (VSA) all come as standard. The Civic also comes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) to help maintain directional stability

and Brake Assist (BA) which boosts braking power in an emergency.

The optional safety pack combines the very latest in recognition technology with simple,

common sense features like City-Brake Active System, Traffic Sign Recognition System, Lane Departure Warning and Blind Spot Information.

There’s a lot of complex engineering and computing involved, but it’s all about

doing something very simple – keeping you and your passengers safe.

Your convenience is always a top priority for us at Honda. So when you park your Civic at night, it automatically leaves the headlights on for 15 seconds, illuminating your surroundings. And when you return to unlock the car, it repeats the action, to assist you quickly and safely in the dark.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Whereas Cruise Control only allows you to set your speed, Adaptive Cruise Control uses a radar in the front grille to let you set both speed and distance from the driver in front, making motorway driving easier than ever. Should they slow down, the system automatically adjusts your speed, making sure the distance between you remains the same. Then, when they increase their speed again, the system accelerates to bring you back up to cruising speed.

High Beam Support System

The High Beam Support System assesses the driving conditions around you and switches automatically between high and low beam.

Pack 2 has the advanced safety technology of Pack 1, (excluding City-Brake Active System) with the addition of Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Mitigation Braking System.

Collision Mitigation Braking System

Assisting your braking by automatically applying an appropriate amount of braking force to help you avoid or minimise the chances of hitting a vehicle in front of you.

A radar system in the front grille helps detect when a frontal collision is imminent. First, visual and audible warning is given to the driver. Second, light braking is applied, seatbelt e-pretensioners in the driver’s side pull gently a few times to provide a physical warning and then tighten for both passenger and driver. Third, if a collision is still imminent, the system starts forcefully braking and activates the brake assist function, whilst both driver and passenger seatbelts are tightened.

While driving around town between 3-19mph, to give you the best chance of avoiding a collision, this system can monitor the distance between you and the car in front.

If you continue getting closer to a detected vehicle, the Civic gives you audible and visual warning via the i-MID display.

If you’ve still not reacted, and a collision is imminent, the City-Brake Active System can automatically apply emergency braking to reduce speed as much as possible. In good driving conditions it can even avoid a collision altogether.

Driver Assistance Safety Pack 1*

Cross Traffic Monitor

When reversing, the Cross Traffic Monitor can detect approaching vehicles from either side and warns the driver of imminent danger. The warning appears on the i-MID.

Forward Collision Warning

Should the front camera pick up a car in front, the system warns of a front on collision, allowing you time to take action.

Traffic Sign Recognition System

Traffic Sign Recognition System can identify traffic signs up to 100m away, and relays this information to the driver via the i-MID as you pass them. Two signs can be displayed at any one time.

Blind Spot Information

Making lane changes and overtaking safer, this Honda-first innovation warns you when vehicles are detected in your blind spot.

Lane Departure Warning

When road lines are detected and the car deviates from your current lane without indicating, Lane Departure Warning alerts you to the fact with audible and visual warnings.

option of two Driver Assistance Safety Packs.

These include our most advanced technologies, like the Lane Departure Warning

Our R&D team thought so. After all, they have always tested the Civic’s engine to the absolute limits in the lab, so why not out on the track? We are proud to be racing the Civic at the acclaimed 2013 World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). Drawing on years of Honda engineering know-how, the WTCC car is built around the European Civic 5 door hatchback and powered by a bespoke, newly designed 1.6 litre direct-injection turbocharged engine developed by our R&D centre in Tochigi, Japan. Best of all, every lesson we learn from this new generation of high-performance Honda engines will help us enhance our road car engines with better design, smoother drive, stronger performance and higher fuel efficiency.
