Foreword

ASIST. PROF. DR. JANEZ MARKO SLABE

DIRECTOR OF TECOS &

CONFERENCE CHAIRMAN

Dear participants, dear friends, The International Conference on Industrial Tools and Material Processing Technologies (ICIT&MPT) which has been organized by TECOS – Slovenian Tool and Die Development Centre every other year since 1997 has developed into a renowned international scientific conference. The aim of the conference is to bring together scientists, researchers and engineers from all over the world to discuss theoretical and practical knowledge and to share information on current world trends in the field of industrial tools and material processing technologies. ICIT&MPT 2011, the 8th edition of this conference, is focused intensively on metal forming processes, materials, laser machining, process simulations & optimisation, surface coatings, non-conventional machining processes, intelligence systems and management. As networking and collaboration are key success factors in the dynamic business environment we are facing today, ICIT&MPT 2011 is strongly focused on this particular aspect too. In addition to the social events during the conference, a B2B brokerage event is organized on the last day of the conference where all participants working in research institutions and companies will have a chance to present the focus of their present and future R&Ds, all with the aim of creating new R&D and business partnerships. I would like to thank all the authors for their valuable contributions in presenting their research achievements and successful industrial implementations and all the members of the International Scientific Committee and Organising Committee for their great efforts. I gratefully acknowledge the support of the general sponsor Gorenje Orodjarna d.o.o. and all the other conference sponsors and supporters. I wish us all lively discussions and a successful ICIT&MPT 2011!
