On November 4th Fr. Philip will begin offering the Tra-ditional Latin Mass at Incar-nation twice per month. Prior to that, he will again offer his Introduction to the Latin Mass seminar. It will be divided into three different sessions, Sunday, October 28th from 3:30-5:00 in the Church; Monday, October 29th from 7:00-8:30pm in the Church; and Tuesday, October 30th from 7:00-8:30pm in the Church. Each session builds on the one preceding it so attend-ing all three sessions would be best but not mandatory. Lord God, as the election approaches, we seek to better understand the issues and concerns that confront our city/state/country, and how the Gospel compels us to respond as faithful citizens in our community. We ask for eyes that are free from blindness so that we might see each other as brothers and sisters, one and equal in dignity, especially those who are victims of abuse and violence, deceit and poverty. We ask for ears that will hear the cries of children unborn and those abandoned, Men and women oppressed because of race or creed, religion or gender. We ask for minds and hearts that are open to hearing the voice of leaders who will bring us closer to your Kingdom.

We pray for discernment so that we may choose leaders who hear your Word, live your love, and keep in the ways of your truth as they follow in the steps of Jesus and his Apostles and guide us to your Kingdom of justice and peace.

RECOGNIZING JESUS The star of today’s Gospel is a panhandler. Bartimaeus is blind, yes, but he is probably also homeless and filthy, a real nuisance to respectable citizens. Even so, it is Bartimaeus who recognizes Jesus as the Messiah, places all his faith in him, throws aside everything he has (his cloak), begs him for mercy, receives new vision, and follows Jesus on the way to suffering and death in Jerusalem. The Year of Faith With his Apostolic Letter of October 11, 2011 titled "Porta Fidei," Pope Benedict XVI declared that a "Year of Faith" will begin on October 11, 2012 and conclude on November 24, 2013. The first day of the Year of Faith, October 11, 2012, is the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council (Vatican II) and also the twentieth anniver-sary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. During the Year of Faith, Catholics are asked to study and reflect on the documents of Vatican II and the catechism so that they may deepen their knowledge of the faith.

A Family Prayer for the Year of Faith O God our Father, in Jesus you call all Christian families and homes to be signs of living faith. By the light of the Holy Spirit, lead us to be thankful for the gift of faith, and by that gift may we grow in our relationship with Jesus, your Son, and be confident witnesses to Christian hope and joy to all we meet. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I WANT TO SEE You have to admire Bartimaeus for sheer dogged persistence. A blind beggar, Bartimaeus called repeatedly to Jesus and would not be hushed. He “saw” Je-sus—the healer, the forgiver of sins, the son of David. Jesus healed Bartimaeus, saying “Your faith has saved you.” Blindness was common in ancient times, and people believed it was the result of sin. We do not think that nowadays, but what about the spiritual blindness that holds us back from a full Christian life? Pride, jealousy, envy, greed, and similar sins are the usual suspects. But consider also lack of trust in God, failure to really believe the good news of Christ, a weak prayer life, and reluctance to do good. And let’s not forget hope. If we truly be-lieve that sin and death are not the end, and that eternal life waits for those who love and serve God, then we cannot be blind to hope. Copyright © 2011, World Library Publications. It has been so rewarding helping Moms choose life for their babies and helping them through their pregnancies and seeing the joy in their faces when their babies arrive. LifeChoices Women’s Care, a pregnancy resource clinic, welcomes more helping hands and loving hearts to serve as Client Advocates in service to women in need. The Center is open on Mondays 10 am – 6:30 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 am – 4 pm. We also are looking for volunteer nurses and ultrasound tech-nicians who can assist at the clinic. MASS OF REMEMBRANCE Next Saturday, November 3

At the 8:30 am Mass, we will have a Mass of Remembrance and Candle Lighting Ceremony for our beloved dead who are now

part of the communion of saints. All are welcome.

In the Candle Lighting Ceremony we would especially like to recognize those of you who have lost a loved one this past year and had the service through our parish. If you wish to participate in this special Mass and Candle Lighting Ceremony, please R.S.V.P. to the Parish Office at 885-7861 by this Tuesday.

The month of November is that special time in which we focus on the souls of our depart-ed loved ones with prayerful intention. Re-member to return your All Souls Remem-

brance envelopes including the names of your deceased loved ones and return them as soon as possible.

Baby Bottles for Foundations for Life Pregnancy Center Next Sunday, November 4, after morning masses, Life Ministries representa-tives will be in the church foyer collecting the baby bottles that were distributed to benefit the Foundations of Life pregnancy center. We thank you for support-ing this valuable Catholic Charities ministry that offers support services to women facing unplanned pregnancy.

Trigésimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

Domingo 30 Tiempo Ordinario. 28 de Octubre 2012 Reflexionando la Palabra de Dios  El  ciego del evangelio  y el pueblo en el des erro  son  imágenes del hombre  alejado  de  Dios,  del  pecador,  de  la  debilidad  errante. Volvamos a Dios y Él cambiará nuestra suerte. Pidamos, tengamos fe en  Él  y  sigámoslo  a  Él.  Como  Bar meo,  si  queremos  ver  claro  en nuestro  mundo  espiritual,  deberemos  pedirlo  al  Señor;  es  decir: abrirnos al amor gratuito que nos transformará por dentro, aprender que  la  iluminación de  la mente y  la  salvación del espíritu vienen de Dios por medición de Jesús, porque Él es el sumo sacerdote que está puesto  para  representar  a  los  hombres  delante  de  Dios,  y  porque, tenida  cuenta  de  su  condición  humana,  puede  ser  comprensivo  y paciente  con  los  ignorantes  y  extraviados,  puesto  que  Él mismo  ha experimentado    sobradamente  las  debilidades  humanas,  excepción hecha del pecado.   

Nadie  como  Jesús  podría  ayudarnos  a  entender  que  Dios  Padre siempre está dispuesto a disipar nuestra  ignorancia  con  la  luz de  la verdad, a perdonar nuestros extravíos y a darnos  la mano, para que andemos  por  el  ancho  camino  que  Él  mismo  abre  delante  de nosotros. Si, como el ciego de Jericó, nos acercamos a Jesús con fe y esperanza –confiadamente– podremos entender  con  claridad y vivir en nuestro  interior aquellas palabras   del profeta Jeremías: “vitoreen con alegría, a  Jacob, aclamen a  la primera de  las naciones; háganse escuchar, celébrenlo y publíquenlo: “El Señor ha salvado a su pueblo”.  Entonces  podremos  creer    que  se  producirá  en  nosotros  el  cambio anunciado  por  el  mismo  profeta,  diciendo:  “los  hago  regresar contentos;  los voy a  llevar por  los arroyos por un camino plano para que nadie se caiga”.   

El camino de la fe comienza en la súplica y culmina en el seguimiento de  Jesús.  El  ciego  de  Jericó  implora  a  Jesús  la  curación  y,  una  vez curado  le  sigue.  En  el  borde  del  camino  hay  muchos  ciegos encerrados  en  su  oscuridad,  en  su  limitación  y  soledad.  No  enen conciencia de su ceguera y creen verlo todo, saberlo todo y jus ficarlo todo. El orgullo les impide suplicar al Señor que pasa por el camino de sus vidas. Otros en cambio, desean ver la luz, la alegría y el resplandor de los colores, reconocen su ceguera y piden ser curados por el Señor que pasa. Jesús, el enviado para que los ciegos vean, cura a Bar meo.   

El milagro es signo de la presencia del Mesías, el Hijo de David. La fe es  la  condición  necesaria  para  ver;  sin  ella  se  permanece  en  la oscuridad, en la ignorancia. La fe hace oír el grito de los pobres ciegos que  al  borde  del  camino  gritan,  suplican  y  esperan  que  alguien  les diga: ¿Que quieres que haga por  ?  P. Jairo   

Para pensarlo El ciego Bar meo está al borde del camino, donde ni siquiera cae  la semilla. Parece que todo está perdido, pero no, Jesús pasa. 

No se olviden de cambiar sus relojes el domingo, 4 de noviembre. Atrasen el reloj una hora el sábado antes de acostarse.

Colecta de Alimentos Mensual

El próximo fin de semana tendremos nuestra colecta de alimentos. Todo lo que se reúna se donará al Banco de Alimentos de la Iglesia Luterana de Our Savior. Le damos las gracias por su generosidad y su continuo apoyo.

MISA EN RECUERDO DE LOS FIELES DIFUNTOS

El sábado, 3 de noviembre, a las 8:30AM celebraremos una Misa en Recuerdo de nuestros difuntos y una Ceremonia de Encender una Vela por nuestros seres queridos que ya son parte de la comunión de los santos. En esta Ceremonia queremos reconocer especialmente aquellos que perdieron a un familiar el pasado año y tuvieron los servicios religiosos en nuestra parroquia. Bartimeo es ciego, sí, pero es probable que también fuera alguien sin hogar y estuviera sucio, una verdadera molestia para los ciudadanos respetables. Los feligreses que tienen negocios, se podrían beneficiar de la publicidad y pueden considerar uno de varios niveles de patrocinio. Las ganancias del Casino 2013 serán usadas para renovar el techo de la escuela de Incarnation.
