and Mary-Louise Timmermans (Yale)Scientific Foci:
Predicting and understanding rapid changes to the Ocean system
Understanding biological and ecosystem processes in the Arctic and sub-arctic seas
Understanding sea ice structure dynamics and the Arctic system
Understanding geochemical processes in the Arctic and sub-arctic seas
Enhancing and improving access to the paleo record of the Arctic Ocean through scientific drilling

Workshop Tromsø, January 19-20, 2015
ISAR-4/ICARPIII session B10Ice mass loss in Greenland and Arctic glaciers under the influence of changing atmospheres and the oceans.
The role of ice in the sea
In 2015/ 2016 the MWG committed support for two external Arctic Ocean related workshops
MWG has allocated fund for follow up activities of its ICARPIII initiative
& is planning to arrange a workshop on:
”Coordinating biogeochemical studies in the transpolar Arctic Ocean”
From my US perspective:
Need for transparencyMore input from constituent communitiesMore active engagement of the full working grouop
