The BT PRIMOVE tram; wire free operation
Effective solution for changing urban transport
18
Aesthetic solution
Elimination of wires and poles that
clears the cityscape and allows for tram
operation in previously unsuitable areas
Minimal equipment and infrastructure
Less land surface compared with catenary
systems and little impact on civil engineering
No compromise on performance
Same great performance as catenary
systems and reliable under all
environmental conditions

The BT Optical Driver Assistance System (DAS)
• Optical system to automatically identify potential hazards in the sweep path of the vehicle as early as possible.
• Warns the driver via acoustic and/or visual warnings
Advantages
Safe detection of objects in sweep path of tram
Infrastructure
Other LRVs and rail vehicles
Motor vehicles
Cyclists
Pedestrians
No undesired increase in the field of vision
Stereo Camera System with 3 cameras
De-central system with standalone control unit
Possibility to capture 3D infrastructure clearance profile

The BT optical Driver Assistance System (DAS)
• DAS is based on picture dependent sensor technology using three cameras
and the associated evaluation unit and software
• The wide angle aperture of the camera lenses give the system a large field of
vision allowing use on tight curves and identification of objects close to the
vehicle
• The heart of the system is the stereo picture processing algorithm jointly
developed with the Austrian Institute of Technology
• The algorithm continuously analyses the pictures from the two camera pairs
and derives the exact position of the rails and the position and size of the swept
envelope for the vehicle path
• The algorithm detects objects such as people or vehicles within the swept path
and derives their distance, size and direction of movement
• Then after considering the trams own speed if a potential collision is identified
then DAS automatically warns the driver via an audio or visual warning
