인사말
제 1회 한류국제학술대회 (The 1st World Congress for Hallyu) 를 개최합니다.
세계 26개국에서 한류를 연구하는 학자들과 현장전문가들이 모여 Hallyu and Global
Culture를 주제로 이틀 동안 100여 편의 논문을 발표하고 토론하는 자리입니다.
오늘날 한류는 세계적인 문화 아이콘으로 국제무대에 당당히 자리를 잡아가고
있습니다. 한류를 보는 시각은 다양하고, 한류에 포함되는 소재도 풍부하며, 한류를
즐기는 방식도 다채롭습니다. 이제는 한류를 학문적으로 정리하고, 산업으로서의
가능성을 제시할 뿐만 아니라, 한류를 통해 세계인이 함께 공존하는 길을 모색할 필요가
있습니다.
이번 대회는 세계의 새로운 문화 허브로 등장하는 한류를 학문적으로 정리하고,
각 지역의 관심을 종합하는 자리입니다. 또한 세계의 다양한 한류 관련 종사자들이 모여
서로의 이해를 도모하는 자리입니다. 그 동안의 한류 연구를 점검하며, 향후 종합적이고
다학제적이며 융복합적인 방향을 모색하고자 합니다. 한류에 대한 학술적 시각과 현실적
정책의 활발한 교류가 이루어질 것으로 기대합니다.
세계한류학회는 지난 1월 28일 창립되었고, 현재 전세계적으로 18개의 해외
지부를 두고 있습니다. 세계인과 함께 미래로 나아가는 한류의 장을 준비하였습니다. 이번
대회를 통해 한류를 더 풍요롭게 이해하고 즐길 수 있기를 바랍니다. 여러분의 참여와
격려로 큰 결실을 맺으리라 확신합니다. 많은 성원을 부탁드립니다.

Welcome
The World Association for Hallyu Studies (WAHS) is holding the 1st World Congress
for Hallyu. This congress invites a variety of scholars and practitioners from 26 countries to
announce and discuss more than 100 papers on the theme of 'Hallyu and Global Culture.'
The Hallyu has been catapulted into the world arena as a global cultural icon.
There now exists a wide variety of perspectives, approaches, and ways of enjoying the Hallyu
across the globe. The time is mature enough to investigate the nature of the Hallyu as a
global phenomenon, to further explore its industrial probability and to draw the world into
one step closer through its practices.
On the basis of these considerations, this congress aims to survey the latest
theoretical and phenomenal understanding of Hallyu and to integrate matters of interests
among a variety of related bodies from around the globe. Our scholarly collaboration for the
studies of the Hallyu needs to be multidisciplinary as well as transversal. And our scholarly
endeavors should seek not merely for unfolding sociopolitical potential in the Hallyu, but
also for creating a value-formative as well as policy-oriented forum.
The WAHS was founded on January 28, 2013 and now working actively with
18 overseas branches. Under the auspices of WAHS, the congress aims to provide an
opportunity for a better understanding of Hallyu across the globe. Your participation is
essential to bearing even greater outcome going forward, and we look forward to your
continued attention and support.

세계한류학회는 세계적인 문화 아이콘으로 등장한 한류와 지구적 차원에서
전개되고 있는 한류 연구의 가교를 마련하고자 다방면의 연구자들과 현장 전문가들이 함께
만든 국제 학회이다. 세계한류학회는 2013년 1월 창립되었고 2013년 9월 현재, 총 18개
해외지부(Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Indonesia, Israel,
Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Sweden, Taiwan, UK, East
USA, West USA, Southwest USA)를 구성하여 활발한 활동 중에 있다.
세계한류학회 분과는 총 9개로 인문사회, 한국어 교육과 문화, 의료, 한류 정책과
경영, 스포츠, 엔터테인먼트, 관광, 패션·뷰티, 그리고 음식문화이다. 이와 같은 조직체를
구성함으로써 세계한류학회는 한류에 관한 학술적 연구를 진행하고, 산학·학제간 협동을
통한 한류 발전에 기여하며, 한류를 통해 세계사회의 소통과 발전에 이바지하고자 한다.
The World Association for Hallyu Studies (WAHS) is an international association for
scholars and practitioners, which aims to be the center of research that bridges Hallyu and
Hallyu Studies on a global scale. Since its establishment on January 2013, the WAHS has
been striving to bring together scholars working in different disciplines and genres of Hallyu
Studies to open up new avenues of discussion and debate. As a result, the WAHS is now
active all over the globe with 18 overseas branches (Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada,
Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Sweden,
Taiwan, UK, East USA, West USA, Southwest USA).
The WAHS currently consists of 9 academic divisions: Humanities and Social
Sciences, Korean Language Education & Culture, Medical Science, Hallyu Policy &
Management, Sports Science, Entertainment Business, Tourism, Fashion·Beauty Science,
and Food. On the basis of these divisions, the WAHS intends to enhance the Hallyu studies in
academia, to encourage continual interplay between scholars and practitioners, and to draw
the world into one step closer through Hallyu.
