MECCANO IS FAR MORE THAN A TOY. It a a hobby thatgives you hours of happiness, month after month. You never tire of

Meccano. it provides youwith something new andinteresting every timeyou open your Outfit.

The parts in theirshining colours are fascinating to look at and tohandie. They are made ofmetal of thefinest quality.

They have been designed by skiiledengineers of iong experience, and theyare produced by vast numbers ofwonderfui machines that work with fauitless accuracy. They come to youin carefully packed Outfìts, ready to give you hours of pleasure.

YOUR THRILLS BEGIN AT ONCE. There are no tiresomerules to Iearn, and no special toois to be mastered. You need only asimpie Screwdriver and a Spanner, and these are in the Outfit readyfor you. You iook through the pictures in the Book of Instructions, choose a modei that takes your fancy, and begin to build straightaway. The thriii grows as the parts faii into position under yourfingers, and soon you have the joy of seeing a complete mociel—made by yourself!

When you bave finisheci admiring and playing with this modei, you take it to pieces anci buiid another one With the parts; and againyou bave the thrill of achievement. So you go on, buiiding modelafter modei; and each one gives you new pleasure because it adifferent.

THE GREATEST THRILL OF ALL cornea when you set yourrnodeis to work by means of a Meccano Clockwork or Electric Motor. There is nothing to equal the excitement of seeing a model, built byyour own hands, working away just iike the real thing. When youhave had this experience you wili know that we are right when wesay that Meccano is the World’s Greatest Toy.

THE MECCANO OUTFITSMeccano is made in eleveri different Outfits ranging from

No. O, the smallest,to No. IO, the iargest. These Outfits are linkedtogether by Accessory or “A” Outfits, which enable you to pass fromone Outfit to the next larger without unnecessary duplication ofparta. None of your original parts Is wasted; you do not have to buyany parta twice over. For instance, if you bave a No. O Outfìt, andyou want to pasa on to No. 1, you buy a No. Qa Outfit, whichprovides you with all the additionai parts to make the requiredchange. You now have a No. I Outfit, and to build this up to thecontenta ofthe No. 2 you require a No. la Outfit. So you can extendyour Outfit step by step by means of the next Accessory Outfit.

In addition, most of the Meccano Parts can be bought separateiy,so that you can increase your stock ofany particuiar part, or replaceparts you may bave iost.

But it Is not necessary to begin your Meccano career with thesmallest Outfit. You can start with any Outfit in the range withoutdifficulty, because the Book of Instructions packed with each OutfitIs specially planned to enable you to do so. For instance, if you buy aNo. 3 Outfit, you are not obliged to begin building No. 3 modela. The Book includes also pages of No. O, No. i and No. 2 models, sothat you can start at the beginning and pass on to the bigger modelsas you become more expert. The Book of lnstructions for eachOutfit includes these pages of models for smaller Outfits.

Each Book of lnstructions contains pictures of a large number ofmodels that can be built with that particular Outfit, With notes onspecial features of some of the models. The pictures of the modelsare so clear, and the whole Meccano system is so simple, that youmay never need to read these notes at all. They are there to helpyou if any difficulty occurs.

Each Book of lnstructions contains also an illustratedIist of all the Meccano parts so that you can identify them.

INVENTING YOUR OWN MODELSThe pictures in the Books of lnstructions show only a selection

ol the models that can be built with each Outfit. Scores of other

models can be constructed. Whenyou bave built all the modelsshown, or as many of them as takeyour fancy, try your hand at rebui!ding one or two of them Withsmail alterations that wilI readilyoccur to you. This Is great fun, andalmost before you know you wiIlfind yourself departing entirelyfrom the pictures, and buildingmodels of your very oWn design.

Now you have become an inventor, and a new world ofthrills opens up before you!

MECCANO ENGINEERING

Every keen and intelligent boy is at heart an engineer, in tnesense that he wants to know how things work and why each thingworks in its own particular way. Book descriptions, even withpictures, are not enough. Meccano solve the problem byputting the actual mechanism into your hands.

Even the smallest Outflts enable you to build a variety ofmodels that work on exactly the same principles as the originals. With the larger Outfits you can build machines and engines of allkinds, with theirworking details reproduced accurately in miniature.Steam engines with cylinders, pistons and valve gear; motor carswith steering mechanism, gear-boxes and differential; machine tools, such as Iathes that wiII actually cut wood or wax; cranes that lift, luff, swivel and trave! along; Iift and opening bridges—aIl these andmany other fascinating machines and structures can be built andoperated by haid or by motors.
