Attention is called to the fact that this is a renovation of an existing building. Renovation of existing buildings require thorough coordination of the contract documents with the existing conditions. The Contractor must verify all relevant existing conditions, dimensions, and details prior to beginning construction. 2. Contractor shall notify architect of any discrepancy between drawings, specifications and/ or existing conditions. Contractor shall await resolution of discrepancy before ordering materials or moving forward with work involving discrepancy. 3. Field Verify existing dimensions prior to ordering or cutting materials. 4. Drawings are not to be scaled for information. 5. All dimensions are to face of finished surfaces, unless noted otherwise. 6. Contractor agrees to assume responsibility for the job site and its safety during the course of construction of this project. 7. Existing library is to remain operational throughout construction. Coordinate construction activities and phasing with Architect to minimize disruptions to library’s operations and access, and to ensure safety of people. 8. Demolition debris shall be removed from the site daily. Contractor shall clean jobsite daily, maintain a clean workplace and keep construction debris and dust away from adjacent building occupants. 9. Remove completely materials as indicated on the drawings and as required for new construction. Edges and faces of demolished areas shall be repaired to accept neat installation of new construction or finishes. Where existing materials are to be replaced, existing materials, adhesives, etc. shall be removed and exposed surfaces shall be repaired as recommended by manufacturer prior to installation of new materials. 10. All existing to remain surface damaged during construction shall be patched, repaired or replaced as needed to restore condition. 11. Surfaces of new and existing finishes are to match in color, texture and consistency, unless noted otherwise. 13. Install blocking in all walls indicated to receive wall mounted devices and/ or cabinetry. 14. Openings created in slabs, smoke partitions, or fire rated partitions by this work shall be repaired using techniques and materials to maintain the rating of the wall, including but not limited to, smoke dampers, fire dampers, firestopping, and fire safing, penetrations of masonry walls and concrete floors shall be stopped to minimum 2 hour rating. 15. Patch holes caused by the removal of equipment, piping, conduit, duct, grills, etc with materials matching existing. 16. A set of project drawings, including but not limited to all contract documents & all approved drawings, and a specifications will be kept at all times at the job site on which all changes or variations in the work, including all existing utilities, are to be recorded and/or corrected daily and submitted to the Architect when the work to be done is completed. 17.
