• His real name is Friedrich Stowasser.

• El prefix Sto in Chec means "one hundred" in English, and "Hundert" in german.

• “Wasser” means water.

• The name of Friedensreich means “place of peace” .

• So, his name Friedensreich Hundertwasser means " one hundred water place of peace".

• He was born in Viena on 15th of December

in 1928 and he died on 19th of February in

2000.

• Son of a Jewish family suffered Nazi

repression.

• He began to be an artist in 1950.

with his ship "Regentag”.

• He was an ecologist. He was against

nuclear energy, pollution… and defensed

nature.

• His art theory is called "Transautomatism”. It is amodern style of painting, founded byFriedensreich Hundertwasser. Different peoplesee different things in the same picture. Theartist's intention is not important, therefore,what is important is how the people interpret it.Transautomatism is about Hundertwasser'stheory that straight lines are not good becausethey don’t exist in nature. Humans have lostconnection with nature, and live in boxes ashouses.

WINDOW RIGHTS

• Between 1969 and 1971 he lived in his boat and there he developed his theory on the “WINDOW RIGHTS”.

• He thinks that people should be able to change their houses and design them. Design the piece of wall that can be reached by pulling the arm from the window.

• So cities do not seem prisons with grey squares buildings.
