1 IntroductionTechnology is the use of scientific knowledge to produce new machinery and
devices that can be used to provide different services or can be employed further to
create more devices. The application of information to design and produce machines
and other goods to make life more convenient for the human beings is known as
technology. In this case, technology that we used is biometric artificial intelligence or
known as facial recognition system. It is an application that can uniquely identify a
person by analyzing the patterns based on the facial shape and texture.
There are several type of facial recognition techniques in used, for instance,
generalized matching face detection method and the adaptive regional blend matching
method. However, most of the facial recognition system is based on the different
nodal points on a human face. With all these techniques, the system is able to capture
a human face and can accurately recognized a target individual when the condition are
favorable. For example, face recognition software is also used by Facebook to tag
individual in photo. The software stores mapping information of a person’s facial
characteristic. Once the data has been collected completely, the information can be
used by the software to identify specific individual whenever they appear in a new
photo. Additionally, the facial recognition system is swiftly evolving with more new
approaches such as 3D modelling. This evolution helps human to overcome the issues
of the existing techniques.
There are many advantages and benefits of this system. One of it is that the
system can capture a human face from a distance quickly without requiring interaction
with the user. As a result, this system can ensure that no one can successfully disguise
another person. Last but not least, face recognition system improved the level of
security as it can be able to track an individual. However, data from a facial
recognition system may be captured and stored without authorization. The
information could then accessed by a hacker, and an individual’s information spread
without ever knowing it. In a nutshell, user must utilize technology wisely to prevent
any unwanted incident to be happened.
2 Prototype PhotoIn our prototype, we use digital device to demonstrate our idea. Since our idea
involved hardware and software aspect, we use totally digital device to test our
prototype. With this testing method, user can have more involvement and
understanding about how our device and software works.
In the user testing session, we use two devices which are the laptop as the camera
to scan the attendance and the software prototype created by Adobe XD.

3 BriefingGood morning, we are currently designing an update version of UTM Smart
(namely UTM Smart ++) by implementing extra features using face recognition
system. It can record your in class attendance without using paper-pen method. Next,
you can check your attendance history to ensure that it has been recorded in the
system. Furthermore, we are encouraging a cashless payment method by using this
UTM Smart++ (upgraded version) and just a face scanning will be able to pay your
stuff.
Hence, we are now conducting a user testing session that will help us by testing
out our developed new system. Your name and details will be included in this
interview form. However, your participation is not mandatory and you shall stop at
any time if you did not feel good. Your thoughts and comments for each task can be
written down in the interview form after you had completed the task.
Next, you can try to complete the three tasks given by using the prototype on the
mobile phone. This prototype is designed by our group using Adobe XD. We will not
guide you the steps for each task as you may try to figure it out. We will observe you
during the testing session and if you have any doubt, feel free to tell us.
Let us know what we can improve with this system. Your testing will definitely
help us to find out the pros and cons of this system. If you are confused, speak up and
we are there to guide you.
If you are ready, then you may start your first task.
4 Scenario TasksScenario task:
Task 1: record user's attendance using face recognition system
Task 2: check previous attendance record for different subject using UTM Smart++
Task 3: Use UTM Smart++ to do the payment
