Use HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools,Remote Management Interface (RMI), or MSLUtildiagnostic software to upgrade the drive to thelatest firmware. Note: You may need to reconfigure yoursoftware application. Drive serial numbers mightbe used for configuration and to assign drives tothe library.
Caution: This part is not hot-pluggable.

Using a flat-blade screwdriver, tighten the twocaptive thumbscrews. If adding an additional drive,configure the library for the new tape drive. Referto the tape library user guide for more information.

13Activate the tape drive by selecting
Activate Drive n > Back > Back > Back to the main screen. The screen will change to indicate that drive n is now activated.Note: After pressingActive Drive 2, themessage disappears.

Make sure that the LED on the tape drive to beremoved is off.
Using a flat-blade screwdriver, loosen the twocaptive thumbscrews at the top center and lowerleft of the tape drive.

Pull straight back on the tape drive handle toremove it from the library.
Note: Some effort is required to overcomethe initial resistance of unplugging the tapedrive from the drive bay.
If you are upgrading to a new drive technology,use HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools toupgrade the library firmware before installingthe new tape drive.

Before installing the new drive, inspect the connectorson the tape drive and in the drive bay. Ensurethat the connectors are intact, free of any foreignobjects, and have no cracks or deformed contacts.

Slowly insert the new tape drive into the drivebay, aligning the connectors on the tape drivewith the connectors in the drive bay.
Caution: Push on the tape drive handleand the bottom portion of the tape driveuntil it is seated.
Deactivate thetape drive tobe removed byselecting Menu >Maintenance >Replace Drive >Deactivate Drive n.The screen willchange to indicatethat Drive n cannow be removed.
