How to Make a Video Completely Using Your Smartphone

Prerequisites
• Clear space off of your phone. Make about 4GB free
• Wipe down your camera in case • Download the ediBng soLware
Hour 1
• Go around class discuss who we are (10-‐15 min)

What Final Product Will Look Like
• Here is what we are making – Say into the camera what you are showing off
• Film it from three angles • Make sure each shot is looks different than the one previously • How
– Change the angle by at least 30 degrees – Change the distance to be much closer or much further
– Say into the camera what you just showed
Filming 101
• Holding the Camera – As steady hands as possible – Lean it up against something – Film horizontally, not verBcally because you will get a wider frame.
Varying Your Shots
• Each shot needs to be 30 degrees different than the previous shot, as well as much further or much closer – 1) = camera – 2) = is the person, object, subject

• I don’t want to overwhelm you guys with informaBon, here’s just extra informaBon if you’re feeling advanced.
LighBng
• Make sure the light source (sun or light) is behind your camera, not in facing your camera
180 Degree Rule
• Here’s a rule that says if the camera starts on one side, you leave it on that one side and don’t cross that imaginary line
