Introduction
Let’s face it. There are a million and one
approaches to healing the adrenals.
If you are reading this book you are probably
searching for answers. You may have tried a variety of
techniques designed to heal your adrenals but you aren’t
satisfied with the results. Maybe you haven’t done
anything yet but you are looking for answers. Either way,
keep reading as the answers are here.
In this book I am going to share with you why all
the “other” methods you have used to heal your adrenals
simply did not work or will not work to permanently
repair your adrenals.
I will discuss how the importance of adrenal health
and why the adrenals fail. You will learn about adrenal
burnout and discover how you can find out more about
your own personal adrenal health.
I will share with you information on various
adrenal testing methods and why I feel the Hair Mineral
Analysis is the gold standard for adrenal testing.
I will give you information as to how you can
actually restore your adrenal health without the use of

And I will give you criteria for choosing a practitioner, a
lab for testing, and set you on the right path.

My Personal Testimony
Before I continue, I want to tell you that I speak
from personal experience. I, like many of you, have
suffered from adrenal burnout. For years I had all the
symptoms but no clue that I was putting my health at
risk.
I was doing all the wrong things; over exercising,
eating the wrong foods, taking supplements without
knowing what my body actually needed, staying up too
late and more.
Eventually I attended a few holistic seminars and
began to look at life and my health differently. But I still
had several years and many speed bumps to cross before
I would find the answers I was desperately seeking.
During my journey I went to a wonderful holistic
doctor who I know has a great heart. However, by the
time I stopped going to him he had me on more and more
hormones. The “natural” thyroid medication I was taking
constantly had to be increased and there is no denying the

fact that it gave me more energy but it obviously was
weakening my thyroid.
After being on thyroid medicine, he wanted me to
try all natural compounded hormones such as prednisone
and testosterone. All of this “treatment” was very
expensive. The hormones were expensive, as well as the
office visits and countless blood tests.
None of this helped me heal and it certainly didn’t
address my adrenal burnout. I was a holistic practitioner,
who like my colleagues, treated symptoms and I was
treating my own too. But I was not getting well and I
knew my burn out was increasing.
Finally my own studies led me to Dr. Lawrence
Wilson’s book, “Nutritional Balancing and Hair Mineral
Analysis”. This book and doctor changed my life and my
practice.
For me adrenal burnout has been a blessing. It has
taught me to slow down and allowed me to begin healing.
It opened my eyes! My adrenal burnout led me to Dr.
Wilson, perhaps the way your burnout has led you to me.
Today I work to share this information with others
so you too, can start your own personal journey towards
healing. My adrenals are still not 100% but they are
much better than they were when I started this program. I
no longer take thyroid medication or any of the hormones
that I “lived” on for years.

Chapter 1
Adrenals and Hormones
The adrenals are two small glands located at the
top of the kidneys. They control the hormones that are
produced in our bodies. A correct ratio of these hormones
is essential for health to be maintained.
Many of you have heard that too much cortisol can
create fat. This is only one effect that can occur when the
adrenals are not able to produce the right amount of
hormones in the right ratios. The adrenals secrete many
other hormones as well including: adrenalin
(epinephrine), noradrenalin (norepinephrine),
aldosterone, estrogens, testosterone, progesterone,
pregnenolone, and DHEA. As already mentioned, the
adrenals also control cortisol and cortisone production.
To understand adrenal burnout, you need to know
that the adrenals react with the sympathetic nervous
system and this effects the production of adrenalin and
cortisol which then produces the “fight or flight”
reaction. The fight or flight response is a stress reaction
in the body, which when triggered, causes an increase in
the amount of glucose or sugar in the blood, that also
raises blood pressure and increases energy production.
Our ancestors experienced this type of reaction
when they ran from tigers in the wilderness but then

returned to a less “stressed” state of living once they
were out of danger. In today’s society we live in a
constant state of stress, which creates a continual stage of
the fight or flight response. This unhealthy state of living
has created a very serious problem known as adrenal
fatigue or adrenal burnout.
This stress can come from many sources. It may
come from constant worrying, overworking, intense
exercise, bad relationships, toxic metals, poor nutrition,
chronic infections, caffeine or other stimulants as well as
a variety of other issues. Infants are often born with weak
adrenals since this issue is passed from the mother to the
fetus while in utero. This is why children are becoming
increasingly ill at younger and younger ages.
Stress is the cause of illness. Any source of stress
creates adrenal burnout and eventually affects our health.
All types of illness and disease may occur when
the adrenals are not functioning properly. Adrenal issues
include: fatigue (including chronic fatigue), allergies, low
blood sugar, low blood pressure, aches and pains, a
weakened immune system, intolerance to cold, digestive
issues, and apathy or depression, just to name a few.
Serious disease may be present when adrenal energy is
low. In short, we have to have healthy adrenals to have
good health.
It is safe to assume that every one of us is suffering
from some degree of adrenal burnout. It is also safe to

assume that most of the time adrenal burnout goes
undiagnosed and if it is identified it is not correctly
addressed.

Chapter 2
Identifying Adrenal Burn Out
You may suspect that you have adrenal burnout
even if you have not been diagnosed. The Ragland test is
a simple test you can try at home to help you determine if
you have weak adrenals. Lie down and relax. Take your
blood pressure while lying down and then stand up and
take your blood pressure again. Your blood pressure
should elevate when you are standing but often, when
burnout is present, the blood pressure will decrease.
Even without the Ragland test you may know that
you have burnout by the number of symptoms you are
currently experiencing.
A Hair Mineral Analysis can show the
degree of burnout that exists. However, unless you are
working with a practitioner trained by Dr. Lawrence
Wilson, you will not receive this burnout information
when you receive your report. The adrenal burnout is
NOT part of the lab report but rather a piece that I, and
other well-trained practitioners, can decipher from your
report using specific criteria designed by Dr. Wilson.
It is crucial to know that your first analysis is
“compensated.” Your body is doing the best it can to
maintain health. The snapshot on your “first” Hair
Mineral Analysis is likened to looking through dirty

glass. I have the information I need to give you a
program, but when you retest, (either in 3 or 4 months),
the picture is much clearer.
The program will take away the “props” the body
is using to function and give you what you need. Once
the body is given the essential elements it needs to begin
to find better health, the glass is clearer and the real
picture becomes evident. Sometimes the burnout number
will elevate on a second analysis, not because the burnout
is worse, but because it was previously “hidden”.
Please note that a hair analysis is not used to
diagnose conditions but to educate you in regards to
trends that are common when various patterns exist on
the Hair Mineral Analysis. You may or may not have
symptoms and still have weak adrenals. Symptoms often
occur when illness is present and can often be avoided if
adrenal issues are addressed early.
If you are already ill, do not despair as there is
hope! The Nutritional Balancing Program I prepare for
you is designed to promote adrenal healing.
By now you may be asking yourself “What is the
best method available for detecting adrenal issues? Is it
expensive? Does it hurt? And how do I begin?” Let’s
start by looking at the best test available for monitoring
adrenal health.
A Hair Mineral Analysis is superior to other
testing that doctors, conventional or holistic, may

perform. Urine, blood and saliva tests are not as accurate
since these fluids are very unstable. They change from
day to day and therefore the results often fluctuate. On
the other hand, the hair is an easy site for the body to
dump excess metals and minerals. This occurs in the hair
over a period of months making this, in my opinion, a
better test than the others mentioned.
A Hair Mineral Analysis is also far less expensive
than other methods of testing and I believe it is more
accurate. After the second test, a Hair Mineral Analysis
only has to be done biannually to update your program
and keep you moving towards better adrenal health. And
it is painless!
A Hair Mineral Analysis is a test that is done by
sending a small sample of hair to a laboratory. The
sample is tested for individual nutrient levels, mineral
ratios, and toxins. Various minerals and mineral ratios
control systems of the body and when they are not
balanced the adrenals, (and other functions), suffer.
The results of a Hair Mineral Analysis will show
me what’s happening at the cellular of the body. Unlike
blood and other tests which can be affected by something
you may have eaten just a few hours before, the hair is a
stable element. Adrenal and thyroid issues will show up
on the Hair Mineral Analysis before they appear on other
tests.

This occurs because the blood will “steal” minerals
from the cells in an attempt to maintain health and
homeostasis. Often a blood test will look fine while the
Hair Mineral Analysis will show imbalances. Catching
these problems before they show up in the blood is a very
good way to repair and fix problems before they become
serious.
Urine tests are not reliable either. You may test
high for mercury poisoning if the test is collected soon
after eating tuna. However, the hair is showing what has
been occurring in the body for a period of 3 to 4 months
thus providing solid and stable information.
Many clients come to me with symptoms that their
doctors cannot diagnose! However, when I look at their
Hair Mineral Analysis I can see the imbalances, patterns,
and trends that need to be corrected that are the probable
cause of their symptoms. Their symptoms are not in the
“head” and they don’t need a pill to correct these issues.
A Hair Mineral Analysis will show me your
oxidation rate, Na/K and Na/Mg ratio, and depleted
minerals such as low sodium and potassium. Of course
excessive minerals and other patterns that help me
determine your adrenal burnout number will also be
revealed.
It also shows hidden toxic metals, (known as poor
eliminators) or elevated toxic metals, both issues that
need to be addressed when designing your program.

Upon receiving your report and program, I explain
how I arrived at your adrenal burnout number so you
understand the logic behind the information I share with
you. The best part is that you receive a program to help
you begin reducing burnout and healing your adrenals.
The program is individually designed for EACH client
based on his/her report.
Below is the chart I use to determine a client’s burn out
number:
1 – 5 Adrenal Insufficiency
6 – 9 Adrenal Burn Out
10 and up – Serious Adrenal Exhaustion
As you can see, the higher the number the deeper
the burnout, but keep in mind, as I mentioned before,
“first” tests are compensated and a retest is a clearer
picture of your health. While clients often show
improvement in burnout numbers between the first and
second tests, a higher number on the second test doesn’t
necessarily indicate a lack of healing. It is important to
remember that healing takes time.
If the body dumps metals or has other “healing
affects” showing up on a retest, this may temporarily
cause the adrenal burnout number to rise. However, you
can know “rest” knowing that the body is healing and
moving towards better health.

Chapter 3
Why a Nutritional Balancing Program is
Superior to other Adrenal Programs
We live in a society of quick fixes and instant
gratification. Doctors, both conventional and holistic,
usually treat symptoms without asking the big “W”. The
big “W” is what I refer to as WHY.
Rather than give you medications, herbs, and a
host of other homeopathic “stuff” that is designed to
cover up the symptoms, why not ask WHY the problem
exists in the first place? The normal approach to adrenal
issues, or any symptom for that matter, is to give you
something that only puts a band aid on the symptom.
After all if you can see it or feel it, it must not be there.
WRONG! Giving you something that makes you
feel better does not necessarily “fix” the problem. In fact,
this approach can make the issue worse. For example,
thyroid medication, synthetic OR natural, works in
“place” of the thyroid and only causes the thyroid to
become very lazy. This certainly doesn’t repair the
thyroid.
Heavy exercise and other drugs and/or
supplements that may make you feel better temporarily
are not necessarily healing the adrenals and often only
make burnout worse.

Not only does this improper approach increase
your adrenal burnout, but all medications have toxic side
effects, causing even more health problems. Even
“natural” herbs are slightly toxic and do not resolve the
issue of adrenal burnout.
Giving your body hormones that it did not produce
also creates a host of other problems. Your body has no
idea what to do with these hormones as it didn’t make
them. Furthermore there is no way to control or regulate
hormone replacement therapy, no matter what a doctor
tells you.
As I already mentioned, blood tests are not reliable
since they fluctuate frequently and therefore should not
be trusted as a reliable method to regulate medications
and hormone therapy. The same is true for urine and
saliva tests.
The Nutritional Balancing Program is designed to
give your body the essential minerals it needs, along with
the proper diet and other lifestyle protocols
that promote healing. It is not a quick fix program. As
Hippocrates said
“Healing is not just a matter of time,
but a matter of opportunity.”
I want you to understand that a Nutritional
Balancing Program is not designed to treat symptoms. It
is designed to give your body the opportunity it needs to

heal. The program knows that your body has innate
wisdom and when given the right environment, it wants
to heal! Your body desires to be well and in homeostasis.
On the program, you are not given medications,
herbs or other gimmicks to cover up your symptoms.
Supplements are recommended but these supplements
consist of minerals in the correct ratios and forms that
can be assimilated by the body. The supplements come
from Endomet Laboratories and have been created by Dr.
Paul Eck who scientifically designed the supplements in
conjunction with the program.
Rather than work to find supposed “cures” for your
symptoms, the program works to find the “cause” of the
symptoms allowing the body to heal so the “cause” is
removed. A Nutritional Balancing Program is the only
program I know of that addresses adrenal burnout and all
other issues from the root of the problem. It is designed
to allow the body to detox naturally, without the use of
harmful chelators, and to reestablish balance to the body
so health can be restored.
Imagine weeding your garden and cutting the
weeds off at the ground level every day. In time, they
would grow back. But what if you took the time to pull
the weeds out from the roots and then cared for your
garden daily? Can you see the picture or how healing
needs to occur at the root of the problem? Can you see
how this is a real “solution” and not just a “band aid”?

Healing adrenal burnout is complicated and can
take time. Sure you can take a lot of stuff that may make
you feel better temporarily but it will only add to your
burnout. In time, you may find yourself more ill and
fatigued than ever because you never addressed the
actual cause of the burnout.
On this program, time is your friend and you need
to get rid of all the quick fix remedies that are promised
and look at the big picture.
On a Nutritional Balancing Program, the adrenals
are given the “tools” they need to really heal. There are
no magic pills or potions. The program may take time but
it works. It is non-invasive and trusts the wisdom of your
body, asking only that you give your body what it needs
and wait patiently for the results. Therefore it is also safe.

changes that create less stress on the body?

Chapter 4
Adrenal Burnout Myths
1- I have no illness or symptoms so I do not
have adrenal burnout –Symptoms may occur
in the final stages of serious burnout. Just
because someone feels “well” does not mean
they do not have adrenal burnout. I have never
had a client enter the program without some
degree of burnout.
2- I have boundless energy so I must not have
adrenal burnout – Often someone will push
themselves and maintain high energy levels
while suffering from adrenal burnout. This high
activity level often makes someone feel “better”
since they feel like crashing when they slow
down. This type of lifestyle can sometimes be
maintained for years before the body breaks
down and forces them to slow down. At this
point serious adrenal exhaustion has set in.
3- Children cannot experience adrenal burnout
– Since weak adrenal glands can be passed
from the mother to the fetus, infants are often
born with adrenal burnout.

4- A vacation or week away from work will
heal adrenal burnout – Adrenal burnout is a
serious issue. In most cases it takes several
years to completely heal from burnout.
Lifestyle changes are needed to recover as well.
A vacation or even a few months away from
work may help, but will not be enough to heal
from adrenal burnout.
5- I don’t have a stressful job or overwork so I
cannot have adrenal burnout – All stress can
potentially cause adrenal burnout. A full time
mother, or retired senior citizen can have
burnout. Stress can come from anything
including: a poor diet, worrying or toxicity, just
to name a few.
6- Adrenal burnout is a “mental” condition and
there is no physical evidence that it really
exists – While adrenal burnout can create a lot
of mental stress and anguish, there is a very
physical element to adrenal burnout. Certainly
worrying and other mental stress can cause
burnout but the body and mind are connected
and work synergistically. There is a physical
AND physiological component to burnout.
Someone experiencing adrenal burnout has a
real physical condition that needs to be
addressed, as well as addressing emotional and

mental stresses. This condition is not all “in
one’s head”.
7- Detoxing and removing toxins will heal
adrenal burnout – Any method of detoxing
the body outside of allowing the body to
naturally detox as it does while on a Nutritional
Balancing Program can be extremely
dangerous. Toxins can increase burnout but
“forcing” them out and can make one very ill,
even causing death. The body will naturally
move toxins out when it is balanced and ready
and this is how the body detoxes on a
Nutritional Balancing Program. All the juice
cleanses and products designed to remove
toxins may actually increase adrenal burnout
and cause serious side effects.
8- Nothing I have tried has worked. I don’t
believe that burnout can be cured – Most
adrenal burnout remedies don’t work. They are
designed by well-meaning but ill-informed and
untrained practitioners. Many will give
temporary relief of the symptoms while the
adrenals actually continue to wear out. Finding
a trained and knowledgeable practitioner who
will educate and work with you is essential to
your healing.

9- Rest is the only way to heal adrenal burnout
– Sleep and rest are definitely a big part of a
well- designed program to heal adrenal burnout.
However, providing the body with the proper
diet for one’s oxidation rate, the correct
supplements, and tools for handling stress are
extremely important. Meditation is also very
healing for adrenal burnout.
10- Intense exercise is good for healing the
adrenals – Hard exercise often makes a client
feel better but is actually “wringing” out the
adrenal, which eventually only creates further
burnout. The endorphins released during
exercise can make one feel better temporarily
and this will often cause a client to push
themselves in order to experience the
“endorphin-high”. This can easily lead to a very
serious adrenal burnout and therefore heavy
exercise should be avoided, allowing the
adrenals to rest and recover.

Chapter 5
How do I begin?
Whether you work with me or another practitioner,
it is extremely important that you understand the criteria
for working with Hair Mineral Analysis.
First, you must choose a lab that does not “wash”
the hair before testing. You may wash your hair as you
normally do before cutting the sample, but when a lab
uses harsh chemicals to wash the hair, it is stripped of
many minerals and not at all accurate. There are only two
labs in the country that do not wash the hair samples.
They are Trace Elements and Analytic Research
Laboratories or ARL. I have used both labs in my
practice and I recommend ARL.
Secondly, you need to work with a qualified
practitioner. Please understand that it is not possible for
just anyone to interpret a Hair Mineral Analysis. A
proper program is not given but just addressing excessed
and deficiencies. It isn’t about taking more of one thing
and less of another. It is based on synergistically
understanding how the entire body works in harmony and
addressing issues based on proper training.

been working for over thirty years with Hair Mineral

After payment is received I immediately send you
the Hair Mineral Analysis kit. The kit includes: a letter
with instructions, a form from ARL, and an intake form
for me and Dr. Wilson to review, and an envelope for
your hair sample. Instructions on how to cut the hair are
included.
You complete the form and send your hair to the
lab and return the intake form to me via email or mail.
After I receive your report and consult with Dr. Wilson, I
prepare all your information in a nice packet!
It takes about 3 to 4 weeks for the report and
program to be returned to you. You can choose to receive
your information through email or mail. And don’t
forget, you receive on-going support from me as part of
the program.

share some general information on healing the adrenals

Chapter 6
General Rules for Healing Your Adrenals
While you are waiting for your individualized program,
here are some tips on how you can begin healing the
adrenals.
Be in bed before 10:00 PM.
Sleep 8 to 10 hours a night. (Naps count).
Sleep in until 9:00 AM whenever possible.
Look for things that make you laugh and laugh
several times a day.
Eliminate the energy robbers (things and people in
your life that drain your energy).
Make your lifestyle a “healing” one – think
positive thoughts and remove negative thinking
and energy from your life.
Do something pleasurable every day.
Whenever you are not enjoying your life review
these 3 things you can do when you are not happy
or in a difficult situation:
1. You can change the situation
2. You can change yourself to fit (adapt to) the
situation.
3. You can leave the situation.
Notice at least one small, everyday thing that you
are grateful for each day.
Move your body and breathe deeply. Spend time
daily doing deep breathing exercises.

Meditate to relax and calm the mind daily.
Worrying and “internal” stress are hard on the
adrenals.
Only exercise “lightly”. Avoid heavy exercise that
is also additional stress on the body (even if it
makes you feel better).
Believe in your ability to recover.
Keep a journal – jot down your experiences each
day.
Surround yourself with positive people and things
that make you feel good.
Avoid all processed foods.
Avoid sugars, even those in fruit, as sugar spikes
the insulin level and overworks the adrenals.
Use sea salt on your food as the adrenals need the
trace minerals in sea salt to heal. Do not use
“table” salt.
Chew your food well – at least 25 times – until it is
liquid.
Take the power and responsibility of your own
health into your own hands.
Make whatever lifestyle changes you need to make
to regain your health.
Enjoy your recovery.
Avoid These Things
Getting overtired.
Caffeine, sugar, alcohol, and white flour products.
Coffee, even decaf.

Staying up past 11:00 PM.
Pushing yourself.
Energy suckers – (people or events).
Being harsh or negative with yourself – (Bad
“self” talk).
Foods you are addicted to.
Foods you suspect an allergy or sensitivity to.
Foods that make you feel worse – make you feel
bloated – cloud your thinking or pull you down in
any way.
Never skip breakfast.
Never eat starchy carbohydrates (breads, pastas) by
themselves
Do not eat foods that adversely affect you in any
way, no matter how good they taste of how much
you crave them.
Supplements and products that may harm your
adrenals, even if you think they make you feel
better.
Now that you have some basic rules for healing the
adrenals, it is time to order your Hair Mineral Analysis
and Nutritional Balancing Program. This is the tool that
will give you essential information which will allow your
practitioner to formulate a precise program just for you.
Until then, do not take supplements or other products that
may create further stress on your adrenals.
