Ink stains on hands and clothing are a common peeve of office employees. You can get it from paper smudges or when changing the ink cartridge. As with any other kind of ink, inkjet ink is quite difficult to wash off.

WHAT YOU NEED

• White towels or paper towels

• Sponge or cotton balls

• Rubbing alcohol (should be at least 70-90% isopropyl alcohol)

• Hair spray (substitute to alcohol)

• Water

• Laundry detergent

• Washing machine (optional, hand washing is fine if there’s no washing machine)

1. Dampen a sponge or towel with water and gently dab at the stain until the ink no longer transfers to the sponge or towel, then let it air dry.

2. Blot the remaining stain with paper towels or cotton balls soaked in alcohol. Make sure that the alcohol soaks all the way through the other side of the cloth, but do not pour the alcohol straight from the bottle onto the fabric.

Alternatively, spray hair spray thoroughly onto the stain. Be careful not to rub or scrub the area to prevent spreading the stain.

3. Place the fabric in between two paper towels, then blot its backside to transfer the stain out of the cloth and into the paper towels. Continue blotting until the you are satisfied the stain is no longer noticeable.

4. Finish the job with a laundry detergent and washer set to the specifications for the type and colour of fabric, consult the tag on the clothing if you’re unsure what they are.

Wash the clothing in a separate load to keep from staining other clothes in case the ink bleeds.
