Use all 5 Screenthots
• Ok, sounds simple... but, many
developers don’t
• The Apple App Store lets use 5
screnshots... Use them all
• Every single screenshot spot is an
opportunity to tell the story of your
app
• Don’t “dive right in” and select most
visually compelling pictures
• Decide what your app’s top
customer benefits are
• Use market research and customer
comments to rank benefits
• Your images should support your
messages, not the other way around
Start with Your Messages
• Many users won’t get past your first
screenshot
• Consider a screenshot that
represents the entire app/game
• Create an emotional connection,
keep it simple, set expectations and
be honest, test first, and stand out
• Use social proof
Get 1st Screenshot Right
• Select screenshots that represent
your main points
• Make sure that your call outs are in
the same style as your screenshots
• Consider foreground elements
(characters, etc) to give your
screenshots depth
Connect Callouts to In-App Exp
• Don’t leave your least compelling
screenshot for last
• This is the last thing that your
customers will see before making a
purchase decision
• Include one last strong benefit as
part of your last screenshot and
combine it with a call to action
Finish Strong
