What is a donate button?

The easiest way to get people giving online to your charity is to add a 'Donate' button to your website. It will help your 'ask' for donations stand out, and because JustGiving is a name people know and trust, they'll be happy to click on the button to make a donation.

You can find a set of ready made buttons in your charity account.

Step 1: Personalise your profile

Your profile page on JustGiving is where you can tell your story and people can show they care about your cause – they can like, share, give or fundraise with just one click (or touch) of a button.

It looks great on mobile phones too, so people can connect with your cause wherever they are; however they want.

Step 1: Personalise your profile

This is the page people will go to when the click on your donate button, so before adding one to your website, we recommend making sure you’ve added the following content:

Your logo

Your impact statement

Your description

Your donation prompts

Step 2: Choose your button

We have designed a range of ready-made buttons for you to choose from.

1. Log in to your charity account2. Click on Fundraising tools and

select Buttons

3. Pick the one you’d like to use and click on it

4. Its HTML code will appear in the box to the right, under Step 2.

This code can be used to make the donate button appear on your website via your CMS (content management system). If you don’t have a CMS, you’ll need to speak to someone with a bit of technical expertise to help you add it to your website.

Click 'copy' if you'd like to add the HTML to your website yourself – you can then paste it in to your CMS. Alternatively, add an email address so you can send the code directly to your web manager or whoever updates your website

Step 3: Promote it

Make sure your donate button is easy to find on your website, so people can show they care at the click of a button.
