OBJECTIVESTo know what Wi-Fi is.To learn how Wi-Fi works. To know what the signals are.Give information about how signals are transmitted.
What is Wi-Fi?The Wi-Fi Alliance is the organization that owns Wi-Fi.The word Wi-Fi is a trademarked term meaning Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ (IEEE)802.11 standards.Wi-Fi is a two-way conversation of signals.
By Wi-Fi you are able to send data to your computer through the air.
Everything can eventually be boiled down into binary numbers.
After all a Computer CPU can only recognize two states
In ETHERNET, data is converted into electrical signal carried by a wire. However, with Wi-Fi the data is carried by something that does not require wires, but through Radio Waves.
With Wi-Fi there is a two-way conversation. Unfortunately since the radio wave is travelling through the air, they’re subject to interference. So the radiation emitted by a microwave oven can affect the Wi-Fi. How to avoid this?
To avoid this, Wi-Fi signals are transmitted at a certain frequency. It can be either 2.4 Gigahertz or 5.0 Gigahertz. This waves are sent back and forth between your computer and your wireless router.
Data is broken down into smaller packets or tiny groups.
TCP/IP – Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol.TCP/IP is a set of networking protocols that allows two or more computers to communicate.
