Getting started

• Apprenticeships and traineeships are a great way to start a career or change career direction. They involve gaining a recognised qualification while earning an income and new skills on the job.

• Employers and workplace supervisors play a central role in the success of apprenticeships and traineeships in New South Wales and are in a key position to maximise the success of training.

Benefits• Exemptions from workers compensation

premiums for apprentices• Payroll Tax rebates• Continuing Apprentices Placement Service (CAPS)• Commonwealth Government Incentives• Training providers must be

registered training organisations (RTOs) before they are allowed to train NSW apprentices and trainees. Only RTOs on the Approved Providers List (APL) can get funding to train apprentices and trainees.
